fender jagtang. its pretty pricey, but its the same guitar kurt cobain used and pretty much designed. has a single coil neck pickup and a humbucker bridge pickup

As someone who likes some heavy music but isn’t necessarily a “metal head”, I love single coil pickups in heavier music.. particularly Billy Corgans playing in smashing pumpkins. Great tonal aspect, and unique sound

Single coils! They always sound clear bright and articulate. If you want to muffle them a bit you can roll the tone a little. Humbuckers USUALLY have a fuzzy muffled sound to me and you can't add brightnes and clarity with a knob!

single coils are knives and humbuckers are hammer. Both is needed to make a house. I think a HSS strat covers all the grounds. Also you can't really beat the clean tone of a Fender
