I have 8 wood humidors (desktop, footlocker & cabinets) and a Herf. I use 65%-68% Bovedas and keep the room they are in at the same humidity. The temperature in my humidor room runs 64°-68° throughout the year. I keep the cigars in their original boxes until they’re more than half empty. I’ve had this setup for years and happy with the results.

I've had them all. I started out with a wooden humidor, but here is Arizona, it was impossible to maintain the humidity. I got a couple acrylic cylinders and those worked well until my collection grew. I gave those away when I got the much larger Boveda acrylic humidor. It worked well for me until my collection grew even more. I now have a large Needone coolidore and I love it.

I have 4 thermoelectric humidors. I have a 1,500 count for my main collection, a 100 count for my infused cigars, a 250 count for aging cigars, and a 200 count that I keep in my bedroom with my best sticks so my friends don't see them and ask for them.

That is fantastic!! I have two 80 count electric ones in my kitchen, and both of them are pretty full. Friends come over and say "I don't know why I need to bring cigars when you have all these?" I'm like, cuz these are mine fool!! 🤣

My first humidor was just a cigar box with a humidity pack. Quickly upgraded to a wood desktop which I always felt cramped my wish to explore the options out there. Got myself a thermoelectric and for now the 35L is enough room to have every other day sticks along with a few celebratory gems for special occasions. All easily accessible but if I was to start storing larger amounts I would consider a large tuppadore for long term storage and draw out into the thermoelectric before use for easier access.

I have two NewAir (840 & 1500) they are great. Also have Ezy tupperdors from Home Depot. They stack great and are perfect for box storage. Throw in a couple of wood humidors for special and flavored cigars. This channel was a huge help in learning all the ins and outs of the different storage. Thanks, Tim.

Your side-track on pets is spot-on, clearly made by someone who has and loves theirs. I recommend getting a jar of Trader Jacks Aromatic. They make good yardsticks (mindless smoking while doing yard work 😉 ) and you get to keep and use the jar when done! Win win.

The coolidors are awesome, I have one. The smaller ones can be kind of annoying when it comes to pulling out the drawers to grab a specific cigar. Hard to organize unless you do some modification. I would love to have a walk-in humidor with hundreds of boxes for aging...That's definitely the dream

Another great review Tim!! I started out with a small and simple wood humidor then went to a small thermal cool only refrigerdor. For whatever reason I could not get it settled so started using tupperdores and fell in love with the simplicity of them. After noticing how many tupperdores I started collecting, I switched back to the thermal electric and recently picked up the 48L Needone unit. I simply love this thing but still needed to use a couple tupperdores. Since I can’t control the temperature in my larger tupperdores, I purchased the HumiFan and it is a huge help to keep the airflow circulating!🔥

Hey Tim, your video has me thinking about my evolution theory of my continuous cigar journey. The process has been from zipper bag to glass tuperdor, to desktop humidor and finally an electric one, to which made all the sense due to the fact that I live in The Caribbean where the weather can have extremely high humidity levels. So the electric one provides that cooling aspect without having the need of constant attention😊. Keep the videos coming and keep up the great work🎉

As my collection has grown, I have transitioned through all of the featured humidors. My favorite, hands down, is the Herf Cool-a-dor 450. Yes, the partitions are stubborn and it's not the most attractive display, but in my experience it maintains humidity better than and temperature as well as my thermoelectric NeedOne, at a fraction of the price.

I have about 15 of the Sistema 7 liter tupperdors going. Each one has a tray that fits in the bottom for a humidity battery. A 69% pack and they stay perfect. I can separate by brand and that appeals to my OCD. I can keep them in shelves above my clothes dresser and they are out of the way. I'd love to have a thermoelectric tower like a Rachine, but we just don't have the space in this house.

@alaskajohn907Күн бұрын
@Thepaininhim it depends on brand and size. I use the Igloo brand 70 quart coolers. They can be had for a reasonable price, especially on a sale. Airtight and can fit tons of boxes. If you put in twice as many bovedas as you think you need it will take several years for them to wear out if you don't open them all the time. I use them for aging, and to feed my smaller acrylic jars that I work out of more frequently

The only holdback I have with the thermo electric living here I Phoenix is that you need to have your ambient room temperature within so many degrees of your humidor temperature setting in order to maintain your RH. I keep my humidor in the coolest room in the house but during the AZ summer if I am not home the ambient room temperature is not always manageable and if ambient temperature gets to 76 or 77 degrees the RH drops like crazy? I should mention the humidor is set to 70 degrees!
@VinnyNero6 күн бұрын
You should be fine to adjust humidity or temperature to allow for environmental conditions. For example: In the summer I normally see about RH of 80% so I use 62% Bovida packs to maintain 65 - 68% Winter can drop to around 38 RH so I use 72% packs. In the winter I turn the humidor to about 69F summer 67F Most suppliers or manufacturers will do the same thing based of the environment they’re in.

Good review, Tim! Many people don't realize the basic reason wood is involved in any humidor (desktop, HERF coolerdor, etc) is to try to get a hint of cedar flavor onto your cigars. But the caveat is that you must season (re-hydrate) the wood by using 84% RH seasoning pack for 14 straight days (while your cigars are temporarily transferred into another container) and this seasoning exercise must be done usually anywhere from EVERY 3 TO 12 MONTHS (depending how fast your wood loses its moisture). For me, a hint of cedar is not worth this type of commitment of time, effort or expense, so I use airtight containers (aka 'tupperdores'). But you need at least two tupperdores ... one for cigars that need to be acclimated to the RH level of your choice (process can take up to several weeks) and the other for cigars that have already been acclimated. Never mix the 2 groups. Tim mentions the RubberMaid Brilliance line. Good choice. But personally, I like EZY Storage Water-Proof IP67 line because I find it less expensive ... easily found at Target, Home Depot, etc. But if you are looking for your first humidor and want to go even more affordable, go with a Ziplok Storage bag or Boveda or Boost Humidor Bag. These can last years as long as no tears are evident and the integrity of the zipper is not compromised. Generally speaking, cuban cigars usually require 65% RH and new world (non-cuban) 69% RH but it ultimately comes down to personal taste ... trial and error. A HumidiMeter by CigarMedics is only about $25 and a must-have IMO. I grab a cigar from my acclimated collection and if it tests too low, I put it back and I grab another stick. Temperature, IMO, is the least critical factor as long as your home doesn't have big temp swings and is kept at normal room temp all year... Here in Chicago, I keep my collection in my basement, away from direct sun and air vents. My old tower cabinet humidor now is being used for storing unopened (sealed) boxes of cigars with Cigar Oasis humidification for long term storage for special occasions. I had a 3 foot tall refrigerdore but outgrew it and sold it on ebay.

I don't like thermoelectric humidors, too many drawbacks in my opinion. Firstly most come with a horrible plastic smell that I was worried would impact the flavor of my cigars. Secondly if your ambient temp is not within a certain range you will get condensation that will ruin your cigars. Thirdly they are all made in China cheaply, their cedar doesn't smell nice, and I have to think they probably won't be reliable, they will all break eventually. I have a simple Iris 60 qt storage box with cedar shelves, govee hygrometer, and boveda packs. I've also invested in a window air conditioner for the room that stores my cigars. It is much more reliable in my opinion. I've also heard Steve Saka say that temperature isn't as big of a deal these days since almost all cigars are frozen now to kill any cigar beetles and that anywhere from 65-78 is fine. You just want to prevent big swings in temp which could damage the wrappers.
