The love for the TAU was a love that sprang from a passionate reverence for the holy cross, for the humility of Christ, the subject of ongoing meditations of Saint Francis.
For the Saint, the TAU was also the concrete sign of his salvation and of the victory of Christ over evil.
Today, the TAU is the symbol of Franciscan spirituality that expresses the love for peace, joy, and God's creation.
The TAU is the emblem of a journey of faith that revolves around God and just as life's events follow each other and are resolved in faith so the TAU of Humilis follow each other creating a never-ending, eternal sequence.

Il TAU era inoltre per il Santo il segno concreto della sua salvezza e la vittoria di Cristo sul male.
Oggi il TAU è simbolo della spiritualità francescana che si esprime nell'amore per la pace, la letizia, il Creato.
Il TAU è emblema di un percorso di fede che ruota intorno a Dio e come le vicende della vita si susseguono risolvendosi nella fede, così i TAU di Humilis si ripercorrono creando reciprocamente una sequenza senza fine, come dire eterna.
L'anello è il primo ed unico completamente realizzato ad Assisi.
