As an Indian American, I rarely hear such strong vocals in Indian music! India tends to favor soft, delicate voices that sound sweet and have incredible agility (Indian music is inherently very melismatic), but Shanmukhapriya is bringing a much more Christina Aguilera-esque sound, much more Western vocal technique, which definitely favors strong belts, growls, vocal fries, whistle tones, and almost operatic vibrato. It’s new to hear that in Indian music!

Like in Indian Classical we have 'gamaka', or 'taan' - which are types of harkat/riff, and in western music we have 'glissando' or 'staccato'. Harkat exists in Western music as well but just in a different way than Indian Classical music. I used 'harkat' instead of 'riff and run' in my comment because Indians can understand that term better
