In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens kzbin.infoUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.

Can you add hazards to the map? example: there's a few large tree tops that don't show on the surface until the water there is about 20ft deep. 21ft and you'll hit it. I know about where they are, but if I could mark it on a map. I'd be sure to clear it.

I love that highlight feature! I’ve decided to upgrade a 757c on my boat that I never learned to use, came with the boat and only fished skinny water in FL. Now I’m fishing lakes for bass. This unit as well as the Garmin Echo 73sv and the Lowrance Elite Ti 2, all with 7” screen, was recommended. Not to sound ignorant, though I am in these things, how do you choose? Its hard to say if you scroll thru my videos i have elite ti on the water settings plus drop shot videos showing fish as well as the helix g3n settings on the water showing fish . the lake master charts are around 100$ for elite they use navionics mapping charts i like humminbird because i can offset the lake levels in california we go thru droughts and our lakes go low a 100 ft at some point and i can offset the charts and re draw the lakes where navionics can not as far as the 2d sonar lowrance might be better but not really and as far as side and down image humminbird is much better on the other hand lowrance is touch screen and more customizable both great units but for me im h bird 🎣

Thank so and sorry so long for that thank you, my face has been buried in my new unit the las 4 weeks lol. I just happen to end up at BP on a Tuesday which is Their 10% off days for card members I found out. So looking at the units, I actually spotted a Helix 8” Mega+. None of the guys at BP new what Mega Plus meant so I called HBird and they filled me in and I walked out with the 8” Mega Plus minus 10%! Thank you for your help And response! Get the lakemaster for your state u need the lakemasters chart also look at my other videos ive done on this unit on the water showing fish plus settings i will also be doing a video on the lake master charts on the water

curious on your opinion, would you go two helix 7 g3n mega si or one helix 9 mega g3n si and just mount on console and spin it. boat is only 16ft

I would go helix 7 g3n si at cinsole and a helix 7 chirp g3n on trolling motor have both units connected thru a ethernet cord so u can share waypoints and share each others screens

Gidday I am looking at fitting a Minn Kota trolling motor to my boat and interested to know if this unit will interface with the Minn Kota and allow me to follow contour lines for fishing while on a controlled drift. We fish saltwater here and I am wanting to deep drop for Swordfish and Bluenose in depths of 1000 to 2000 feet. Interfacing to a Hummingbird unit looks like the solution. Is your unit a g3n? If so u should have a basic base map not all lakes are mapped also what state are u in u can go on lakemaster website to see all the lakes mapped online.

Thanks for the video. I am thinking about purchasing this unit. In the beginning of the video you mentioned being excited about the transducer that came with the unit. And, later you said you are mounting it to the trolling motor? That transducer that comes standard with the unit is made for the transom. I have the Helix 9 mega G3N. As of 4/28/19 Lakemaster maps will not work with G3N units I bought smartstrike and Lakemaster plus, neither one are recognized

That is only a sonar unit no imaging if you want Imaging you have to buy a mega down Imaging unit or if you want side image you have to buy a mega Side Imaging unit the three different models you bought the one with only chirp sonar if you didn't open it you can return it

I can get the Gen2 Helix 7 SI for $500 and the Gen3 Helix 7 for around $700. There's a steep learning curve but in your educated opinion would it be worth the $200 price difference as far technology is concerned? From what I can tell the G3 model scans a little deeper and a little wider on SI? Thanks you once again.. Tite Lines !

Yes get the g 3 unit it has mega imaging and better 2 d sonar plus processor is much faster i will do a settings video showing the g3 on the water showing fish and how to fine tune it i had a g2 unit and its no where as good as this g3n unit ill try have a video on the water settings up in next few days
