Awsome info! I will have to try that out with my Humminbird Helix 5 SI.. I currently have it hooked up to my trolling motor battery and I get bad interference. Even with it hooked.up to the main motor battery, I still get it as well. Running 24v on my trolling motor with 3 batteries on a 3 bank on board charger. Maybe I need a stand a lone battery for the humminbird!

Question. I have heard over and over when there is a similar problem like this "Do you have a ground to your boat". This is to do with Aluminum boats, which we have. That affects different things and one is fish. Is a ground to the boat what people refer to as a hot boat? Meaning it deters any fish anywhere close to your boat. We do a lot of salmon fishing and have heard of hot boats and the person complains of not hooking very many fish. The solution is to find where your a wire or your batteries are grounding to the boat. I'm just wondering if all that is related plus I'm not sure. I do have downriggers that have a Positive Ion charge to the cable to attract fish.

Great stuff! So you ran a wire from the negative battery terminal to a ground on your boat? I just want to be certain I understood you correctly. I have a 3 bank and a 2 bank charger on my boat and they are all connected so I can plug in to charge all 5 batteries at once.

Get a better charger that has totally isolated circuits such as Dual Pro 4 bank.

I have a Minn Kota 4 bank charger in that boat. (MK 440)
