I was going to put perches on it by wrapping wire around the tubing, but if you look, the hummingbirds are able to sit on it, and still feed❤

I had to give up on hummingbird feeders because the woodpeckers drink them dry in no time. I have tried about four store-bought and at least as many home made versions and those crafty buggers always figure it out! I once saw a large round ball feeder made of glass, but I was taking an airplane and didn't want to travel with it.

I have a few woodpeckers come every year in our yard and I have a glass hot air Ballon looking feeder that seems to work… they peck on the glass but I have caught a few trying to get to the nectar. Didn’t think those birds were into nectar 😅

We have lots of woodpeckers, and so far none have come to the feeders, but they do make holes in the oranges and suck the juice out. Not sure what feeder would work for them since they can swing.❤

You can get a soldering iron anywhere, let me see if Walmart has a link I can add onto this video, but you can go to any hardware store, I’ve even got some from dollar stores for just a few bucks. Harbor freight has all kinds, it doesn’t have to be an expensive one, get the cheapest one they have. ❤

Robbie, The only drawback i can see to this feeder is, how would you thoroughly clean the heart? Unless the entire end of the heart is taken off, mold could build up in the crevices. Just wondering what your thoughts are about cleaning. Other than this concern, I love the idea!

It seems like that nectar level would get too low for their beaks to get reach the nectar very quickly
