Do not spread wrong information: People on ILR can use public funds. When I was on my ILR I received a bursary from my University which is a public fund. If one of the parents is on ILR, the child automatically will be eligible for Citizenship.

It can also be taken away without notice, so say you have missed council tax or not paid a parking fine, and u go abroad they can deny u entry even if you have a British citizenship. This British nationality bill was passed in April.

I have checked didn't see nit paying council tax can lead to deprivation of British citizenship. Kmt it reminds me of when people was told not paying council tax can lead to prison lol. Congrats. After getting British passport u can't enter in india without visa. And u can't stay unlimited time in india. As u said 7: 09 u can stay unlimited time in others country. Wrong info.

Is it really necessary to stay for full 5 years in UK and then apply or just by completing the 5th year 6 months and in the country and then apply for the ILR?

It is possible to submit your ILR application up to 28 days before the end of your qualifying period. If you apply earlier, you will not be eligible and your application is likely to be refused. You will however need to ensure you should apply before the end of your permitted stay in the UK.

You must be in the country 190 days before the application and not have lived outside for more than 180 days in 2 years before over 2 consecutive periods or consecutively.

Congratulations! * But I just want to point out that at the airport immigration line, your partner (Gaurav) will be able to join you in the British passport line as he is your spouse despite him having a non-UK passport because he is the spouse of a British citizen. * People with either ILR or LTR would still be eligible for government benefits as usually they are giver recourse to public funds with work permitted. Only time they wouldn't is if they are here with Limited leave to remain, no recourse to public funds or an asylum seeker. Even refugees have work permitted and recourse to public funds. 👍

We can use public funds on ILR and if your partner is uk passport holder then you don't need to spend 5 years for ILR. You can apply after 3 years.

I am eligible for a British passport as i have an ILR for more than a year now but still thinking if i should apply for a British Passport. I wish i dont have to give up my Indian Passport. Honestly i could never be so excited to give up Indian citizenship or even get a British Citizenship but everyone is different. Congratulations as i think you were really looking to get this passport. Different lines for immigration is definetely not a benefit & even the other benefits are fine to live with for me. For me the biggest benefit would be visa free travel, the hassle of not applying for visa is done with a British Passport. But hoping Indian passport becomes powerful enough for us to avoid visa
