"Humza Useless" | Mike Graham Blasts The SNP's New Hate Crime Law

Police Scotland have been accused of 'making it up as they go along' in the wake of the SNP's new hate crime laws being introduced.
In the first 24 hours since it came into force, more than 3,000 complaints have been made to police and officers are having to be pulled from other areas of the force to cope with the deluge.
Speaking to Mike Graham, journalist and broadcaster Candice Holdsworth said: "It's so ill-planned, how are they going to implement this?"
Mike says: "Any decent barrister would demolish this in a court of law and say you're basically making it illegal for people to say things which are true."
Meanwhile, lawyer and broadcaster Andrew Eborn thinks the new legislation is going to encourage people to push the boundaries of the law.

The strange thing is that if someone was taken to court for" misgendering" a "trans" person he would have to swear to tell the whole truth or commit purgery and go to prison. Totally this. We have worldwide instant communication yet have to wait four years for a vote on our future. Why isn't there a simple government app set up that we can cast our votes on day to day things? it would be ridiculously easy to implement but, no. Here we are stuck with decisions and laws no one voted for by a leader no one voted for. Absolutely disgraceful.

Not really. I'd say the vast majority of people are totally uninformed about what they're voting for. Most just don't engage with politics. It's why we got here in the first place.

The Chief of Police could and should refuse to enforce any law that is obviously tyrannical and /or impracticable. The chief is obliged to do this. None seem to have that sort of courage and the woman now in charge in Scotland after the former chief resigned suddenly last year seems to have been chosen partly because she would go along with this act. She must have known it was coming and should have voiced concern if she had any. It is possible had she voiced any objection she would not have got the job.

SNP leadership frontrunner Humza Yousaf deliberately skipped the final vote on same-sex marriage in the Scottish Parliament because of his religious views, a former colleague claimed yesterday. Ex-Scottish health secretary Alex Neil claimed that Mr Yousaf, a Muslim, asked for permission to miss the crucial 2014 vote because he 'was under so much pressure from the mosque'. He alleged that Scottish government business was organised for him as an 'excuse' to miss the vote, and claimed his former colleague has been 'dishonest' about his reasons for not taking part.
