I’m a Vietnamese. I know the truth behind economy failure of tyranny. They blame embargo for poverty. It’s the government corruption. Economy of VN is just the appearance! The nation debt! The corruption ruins VN. The rich are party members. The poor are lucky to have jobs to live barely on daily needs. Vietnamese are paid to be smuggled in the US and many European countries. Some died on trying to enter like 35 young Vietnamese died in a container which was bounded to London couple years ago.

Don’t forget Equador. The one thing that I appreciate about the Cuban government, is that they would never allow a Haiti. It’s a double edged sword though. My friend’s niece from Cuba was kidnapped and held for ransom last week. I’ve been telling the women, especially don’t risk it. I keep trying to tell them that the US will never invade to takeover Cuba. They desperately want that and don’t believe me. We have way too many pro communist /antiWest Americans now. Everything done abroad is seen as imperialism. If that’s what they have to tell themselves to keep hope, then I guess. Just a sad situation. Castro tricked Cubans. The Revolution was supposed to be like the Founding Fathers here. They called themselves Freedom Fighters because they thought they were fighting for freedom, but if they had to choose, they would choose the Batiste government. They said Cuba , at least was prosperous and they had opportunity and choice. It may have been heavy handed and was not perfect for everyone, but now Cuba is only good for party members and tourists. Seeing the hospitals that Cubans have to go, compared to the hospitals that tourists go is mind boggling. Everything is a facade.

@SatanasBelzeebu
@SatanasBelzeebu Ай бұрын
I'm Cuban, and I will tell you why. They don't want to let go of their power grip. They don't want the embargo lifted either. Both, Cuban- American politicians and Cuban politicians want everything to remain the same. How do you think they make their money? The ones in the States receive 20 millions yearly preaching for democracy in Cuba and the ones in Cuba have offshore investments. It's the average Joe that suffers. USA benefits, because they use Cuba to get votes, and most cubans come with degrees hence USA saves tons of money in education. We come, we get legalized, work, and pay taxes. Very few rip the system and very few are lowlifes. But this time there's not much to offer the average Joe in Cuba. Tourism is dead [one of the main sources of income]. And they can't provide basic services anymore. Food shortages, no medicine, no electricity, limited gas, etc. It's only going to get worse

Vietnam, in many key ways, still practices command economy: foreigners, for example, are strictly forbidden from owning anything that isn't a personal business. The only one responsible is the communist party for making it illegal for Cubans to prosper. The communist party is the only one doing business in the island. Or is it the US also responsible for the construction of thousands of hotels in Cuba amid a crisis and political prisoners in Cuba? Cuba maintains commercial relations with more than 100 countries. Cuba needs democracy and freedom. Stop blaming the wrong entity!

China invested in Vietnam to rob my country. They bribe corrupt Vietnamese government to steal “mining rare earth” You know the purpose of supporting corrupt governments like Cuba and Vietnam. People don’t know. They blame the blockage. It’s the corruption and policy. The biggest chunk of government budget goes to police. It’s 20 times more than education. It’s more than 20 times than health care. The unfair employment is also a big failure. The good pay jobs go to the families of communist families. They screen 3 generations of families.! Castro called Khruschev to demand a preemptive nuclear strike on the US from Cuba. Relations can never recover from something like that.

There is no reason for Cuba to have a one party dictatorial regime embarcing a failed ideology. Have free elections and a free economy, and all sorts of wonderful things will happen.

@@eddihaskell Silly excuses for empoverishing a whole country of people. Funny thing so called socialist countries never sanction the US. If China said it will not trade with the US until they change their capitailism, would that be fair then? would you write that comment to the US?

It's literally not. We don't have 90% inflation, widespread hunger (we actually have an obesity problem due to so many plentiful calories), and constantly failing infrastructure (although we may get there someday if we keep neglecting maintenance and privatizing everything). If you're ever wondering how crappy countries are compared to one another check asylum rates leaving the two countries and entering those two countries. Those relative rates demonstrate where people actually want to leave and where they feel relatively safe fleeing to. Don't get me wrong; I'm not saying the US is a perfect utopia with no issues. We have issues, but in relative terms we're doing extremely well compared to Cuba.

For all of you who think the sanctions/embargo/blockade caused this situation, it didn't. Cuba imports more food from the US than anywhere else, no sanctions applied. Last yr the government could've ensured proper nutrition for all the population with 10% of what they spent in hotels that remain empty. But they didn't, they have their own agenda and priorities, and we the people are not it. Right now the avg Cuban literally has worse nutrition than slaves did back in the 1800s. Also, Taiwan has suffered sanctions from China for a comparable amount of time, but chose a free market economy. Compare the two nowadays, that'll paint a better picture than I can here
