Some of my Hindi speaker friends were asking for true and understandable meanings of the hard urdu words used in this ghazal. I'm a native urdu speaker from Pakistan but I can write Devnagri as well. So I decided to write this whole ghazal in easy understandable version for those friends. __________________ हंगामा (शोर) है क्यूँ बरपा (मचा हुआ) थोड़ी सी जो पी ली है (इतना शोर क्यों मचा हुआ है, हम ने अगर थोड़ी सी शराब पी ली है) डाका तो नहीं डाला चोरी तो नहीं की है (शराब ही तो पी है हम ने कोनसा डाका डाला है या कोई चोरी तो नही की) ______________________ उस मय (Sharaab) से नहीं मतलब (purpose) दिल जिस से है बेगाना (not related) (उस शराब से हमे क्या लेना देना जिस से दिल उतर गया हो) मक़्सूद (वांछित) है उस मय (Sharaab) से दिल ही में जो खिंचती है (हम तो वो शराब पीना चाहते हैं जो हमारे दिल में हलचल मचाए) ______________________ सूरज में लगे धब्बा फ़ितरत (Nature) के करिश्मे हैं (हमे हैरानी नही होगी अगर सूरज में दाग ढाबे पड़ जाएं क्योंकि नेचर कुछ भी कर सकती है) बुत हम को कहें काफ़िर अल्लाह की मर्ज़ी है (बुत और मूर्तियां जो हम ने खुद अपने हाथों से बनाई थीं वो हमे जिंदगी जीने के तरीके समझाने लग जाएं तो हम क्या करें खुदा कुछ भी कर सकता है । मतलब यह कि जिनको हम ने अपने हाथों से पाला वोह अब हमे यह बता रहे है कि जीते किस तरह हैं) __________________________ ना-तजरबा-कारी (inexperience) से वाइ'ज़ (preecher) की ये हैं बातें (यह मौलवी और कुल्ला लोग हमे समझाते हैं कि शराब न पायो, असल में इनको पता कुछ नही है) इस रंग को क्या जाने पूछो तो कभी पी है (उन्हें इसके मजे का क्या पता हो गा, उन से पूछो तो सही के कभी खुद पी है आपने?? जिस ने कभी शराब पी ही नहीं वो हमे केसे बताए गा कि शराब में नुकसान है) _________________________ हर ज़र्रा चमकता है अनवार-ए-इलाही (Lights of God) से (दुनिया की ही चीज में खुदा ही नजर आता है) हर साँस ये कहती है हम हैं तो ख़ुदा भी है (हमारी चलती हुई सांसें हमें यह बताती हैं के अगर हम लोग न होते तो हमारा खुदा भी ना होता) Thanks Edit: Sorry for the last line. Someone told me that I wrote it wrong. According to them it actually means agr hmari saans chl rhi ha to yeh is baat ka sboot hai k koi is ko chlane wala bhi ha yni k khuda bhi ha.)

It can be a minimal diversion which can be enough to impact the song experience for a listener. So, ideally in ghazals, accompanying players play subtle ensuring the vocalist is the star. So when you come across such musicians, you know they are really special ones. You can include Zakir Hussain in this as he played many a times for Hariharan and his balance despite extreme creativity is exceptional.

There was a cassttee in my house of ghulam ali's best songs, I used to play that when I was in 8th standard I guess in 2003-02 ...This song was my fav somehow...and 'Ye dil ye pagal dil mera, kyu bhuj gaya Awargi'&'kaisi chali hai ab ke hawa, tere shehar me' were my second favs. I had a micheal Jackson cassette too..there was a time and those were the days....childhood of 80s and 90s.....
