Hungarian is a very easy mid category 2 language, like Latvian - it’s quite different, but not difficult, plus most Hungarian words are very easy to memorize, almost as easy to memorize as English / Dutch / Norse / Gothic / Icelandic / Faroese / Danish / Welsh / Breton / Cornish words, and I would recommend learning all these languages together as they are way too pretty not to know, and, by the way, I heard that teaching the words and the language also makes it easier for one to learn and understand it, so I am also trying to teach languages that I am learning, but mostly in yt comments, not only because I want to help these gorgeous languages become more known, but also because I can understand better how the new languages work and I also learn more words that way, as I have to do my research and check the declensions and be more focused and stuff like that, so teaching languages is also one of the best ways to learn those languages, so hopefully more and more ppl start teaching them on yt!

A bit of a correction, pályaudvar while does mean trainstation, the word mostly refers to the 3 big train stations in Budapest. Any train station in general is called "vonat állomás". Pályaudvar can also mean the main bus station in each city, sometimes called "buszpályaudvar" but pályaudvar works too. You're doing pretty well btw, impressive

Dehogy " colorhouse" !

Very nice to see your video. You're doing a great job in Hungarian. Are you Dutch? I definitely sense a bit of a Dutch accent in your English and your Hungarian. I'm not meaning to bash on you in any way but I just want to give you some tips. In pronunciation, make sure the emphasis is always on the first syllable and make the difference between short and long vowels and consonants a bit larger. Pályaudvar is not just a station, it's a terminus. Udvar means courtyard, so a secluded place where the pálya ends (I don't know how to translate this correctly, in English it might be (rail)way, in German it's (eisen)bahn, in Dutch (spoor)baan). A station would be állomás or megállóhely (stop). Szia and sziasztok are very informal greetings for people you know, for others you mainly use jó napot or jó estét. Jó reggelt is mainly used within the family when you get up. Ét means food not eating. Eating is enni. A butcher is a hentes, a hús bolt is a shop where they sell meat. I certainly enjoyed this and I look forward to the next one! 👍 Oh, and my favourite Hungarian word: folyamatellenőrzésiügyosztályvezetőhelyettesképesítésvizsgálat 🤣 Not that anyone uses words of these lenght. My every day favourite is gyönyörű, which means beautiful, prachtig, wunderbar. Literally meaning "like a pearl"
So the emphasis in Hungarian is always (in every word) on the first syllable, like in Norse and Icelandic, or only in most words, and, is it also on the first syllable in compound words? (That’s very useful to know, as one cannot find that info in most videos, and, I must admit that I’ve been wondering where the emphasis falls in Hungarian words, but couldn’t find any info on emphasis before!)
@grafo58616 ай бұрын
@@thetrueoneandonlyladyprinc8038 Always the first sylable in every word.
@andyhorvath66306 ай бұрын
@@thetrueoneandonlyladyprinc8038 Yes, the emphasis is always on the first syllable of every word. When speaking quickly you may not always notice, but you will notice the tada tada tada cadence of sentences. Emphasis on meaning is changed by changing the word order of a sentence, but that's an entirely other topic.
@thetrueoneandonlyladyprinc80386 ай бұрын
I see... That’s good to know! Re the word order tho, is the word order free like in Gothic and Norse etc, or do sentences normally start with the verb in Hungarian? I noticed that Hungarian is pro-drop when it comes to pronouns, so pronouns aren’t always used together with the verb, and in many sentences I noticed that the verb was the first... So that’s why I was wondering if Hungarian is a verb-first language like Welsh!
