Bob Cohen is a world treasure and certainly the best Klezmer musician alive. Thanks for sharing this remarkable event.

Klezmer music has alot of turkish/near asian influences. Most of it is written in harmonic minor-ish scales with a sharp 7th. This is the 'oriental' feel you are talking about.

so is this traditional hungarian or just specific to hungarian jews??? ...i'm kind of learning about Hungary now...how could one tell if a predecessor was hungarian or hungarian jewish?...i know that must sound dumb, I'm sorry..but my grandmother came to america as an orphan, magyar (hungarian) but she was quiet n didnt talk about anything and so no one in my family knows if she may have been jewish.

Hey, Brothers (and sisters)- naturally I know the Script (The Bible)- and that, that Cristmas is an other feast... But tiped: "Cristmas Song Budapest Klezmer Band"- and it give this site... (The hungarian title is: Karácsonyi dalok" - let's see over, at the left side) So- At first happy Chanuka, and at 2nd- also the Old Testamony writes so lot about "SOMEBODY" who will come- to help for David's sons... So- Merry Christmas too!!!!

opps! I wasn't aware that Hungary was part of the Orient. Thought it was beside Austria, in the middle of Europe.
