I really enjoyed your video! I used to grow Hungarian wax peppers in my garden and some of them were super hot and some of them were mild, even from the same plant. I haven't made paprikash before but I've made goulash and sometimes I have it with spätzle or on top of some mashed potatoes. Egg noodles are super good too. For something more exciting you could try like a Szekely Gulyas (Szegedin goulash) that has sauerkraut in it! . Personally, I like your filming style, it feels like hanging out with a friend in a way. I have to disagree a bit with the other commenter who said it was the camera making your teeth look dark. I think it was just the shadows because of the light coming from overhead. But it looks totally normal to me.

Thank you for your comment!! Goulash with mashed potatoes or spatzle sounds HEAVENLY. I am jealous of you growing peppers!! I hope to do that one day! I am so glad it feels like you are hanging out with a friend! That was my goal and I am over the moon you felt that way

Your personality is great, and the chatter makes it much less of a cooking video and more of a lifestyle or day in the life of video. I enjoy this format, but people looking for actual cooking advice may become impatient. Regardless, great job and keep it up!

I've been growing Hungarian Hot Wax peppers since 2008, and I've cooked them so many ways. When I started making different Paprikash dishes, and stews like Goulash, I quickly learned that the broth and the meat requires very heavy seasoning. A good hard browning is essential, as you noted, and tons of fresh and powdered Paprika. I make my own spicy smoked Paprika for this very purpose, and the smoking of the peppers builds a depth of flavor lacking in store-bought Paprika. More salt, more Paprika, more garlic, and more herbs than you think you'll need. Worcestershire sauce or soy sauce will really bump up the flavor, too.

@@Josh_Green44 the more the merrier!!! Thank you for the comment. Now I really feel I need to try a goulash haha!!

@@KalysKorner I'd like to see your Goulash video! There are two distinct variations....one is a soup/stew, and the other is a saucy pasta dish.

Hungarian Paprikash usually has dumplings and if you are too lazy to do that noodles preferably of the egg variety. Your sauce also looked fairly thin probably because you didn't mix in the flour and didn't cook it down long enough.
@KalysKorner2 ай бұрын
I had no idea! I was recommended spätzle, but I didn't realize the liquid should be thicker! That makes a lot of sense...thank you so much!
@originalslicey2 ай бұрын
@@KalysKorneryeah, the Hungarian dumpling is nokedli, very similar to spaetzle. I usually just use egg noodles because it’s easier. Thicken the sauce a bit and you don’t need heavy cream; just sour cream is traditional. Looks good, though! I haven’t made this in a long time; now I want to try it again! I’ve actually never even had it with the Hungarian was peppers because my family doesn’t like spice! I do, though. Who knows what flavors I’ve been missing out on over the years! 😂

I grew up calling this dish “chicken and dumplings” (accurate description of what a kid was seeing more than anything else). When I had southern chicken and dumplings for the first time at a friend’s house, I was severely disappointed that it was not chicken paprikash.

You have to make it quicker, get to the point, also the camera makes your teeth look black, which, I doubt they're. Just tips, wish you best bud.
