I still think the base of the hack needs more work. Like clearing a room rather than just killing a single enemy. Otherwise, as seen in every video Jupiter has done, players kill the weakest thing and rush past everything. Room design needs work too as it seems like the hack only rotates through a handful of roomsets abd things get stale quickly. Maybe randomised item stats. I can't tell if thats a thing since im not well versed with the gba game. At the moment it still feels like its the DS max rando but worse. Everytime can't help but think, "Man thus would be so much better on the DS with all the rando stuff in it already." Even so, its super impressive to see whats already been done on it. Never would have expected stuff like random enemy variables and room effects. I genuinely enjoy seeing what gets added.

having a few mandatory rooms to clear would be a nice addition I agree, by making it a random chance or gradually lowering the choices of possible room to go to until you run into a combat room or something so that the players will have to engage in combat more which would show off some of the special effects on some weapons the opportunity to shine more.

i think the only thing i dislike about this hack are some floor/movement impairing room effects buts thats about it everything else is great

Would it be appropriate to include a third hunger bar that only replenishes with food? or just make the hunger rate higher as the difficulty increases?

it's common for roguelikes to make hunger the spell resource, so tying it to mp would make sense. If they could figure out a way to have it drain MP and then start draining HP if no MP is remaining, it'd be pretty close to how roguelikes handle hunger systems
