The thing with Little Mac is that you're not supposed to play him like other characters. Edge guarding with him is a bad idea, you're supposed to stay in stage and dodge as much as possible and attack whenever you can, similar how in the games you cannot to take damage or you'll lose. It's such a perfect translation of Punch Out gameplay into Smash.

I played against Peanut once. It was about a month after he joined the discord server I was on. His introduction was basically "I just started playing Smash about a month ago and I was hoping someone could show me how to get better" He 3 stocked me and took only 50%, in under a minute. He was crazy. He was nearly impossible to edgeguard, and he read nearly every move I made. And at this time before the match I was beginning to feel good about myself and thought that I was kinda good at the game. Needless to say, getting absolutely trashed on by someone who's mained the worst character in the game for about 2 months really didn't help my self confidence.

I've never understood people automatically discounting Little Mac because of his aerial game. Yes he's severely lacking in that one aspect of the game, and yes aerial play / recovery is traditionally a very important aspect of the game. But a rushdown character is awful at zoning and a zoning character is awful at being aggressive and comboing. So in that same way why is it that we can't recognize Mac as a unique character with unique attributes, like the difference between a zoner and a rushdown, and recognize that these unique attributes are capable enough to get the job done despite his weaknesses? Like. Okay if Little Mac has tools to demolish you in neutral and demolish you in advantage state, then logically it should be entirely possible for Mac to win matches just by limiting the time spent in disadvantage states. I don't understand why the assumption is that if you can't come out of disadvantage you can't win games. The best defense is a good offense.
