I had some people from discord that had me doing the exact same thing like this. But it's still wouldn't work on my end. But I would've been excited if i could get all the way in at least to create my character. But nope, it will constantly say my connection failed. I finally gave up on it after doing everything you're doing but not working for me on my end thou. I just don't know what else to do at this point???
