Recently I was in doubt about this being a thing in the game and decided to test it in both the new shooting range and in live servers (quickplay on SA servers past midnight, completely empty, so it was easy to test.) A thing I've found out is that, while limbs *should* penetrate regardless of distance, it doesn't do that every time, it stops penetrating everytime after around 100 meters or so. It feels like if it pens or not at long distances is a bit random, so it's likely a server issue instead of an actual mechanic, but I think it's interesting to note since it does explain where the myth may come from.

Great job Nixa, like always :) I would be too lazy to record that, even though the misinformation about limb pen and a few other things gets me really riled up :D I only now found your original vid, ngl, Im laughing quite hard seeing whose "guide" you used in it at the beginning, probably the biggest myth creator in the community :D

What would help people to understand this more is if we had a shooting range where you can shoot player models and see how much DMG each shot does at whatever range and where you hit them, it's not a hard thing for crytek to really implement

I don't agree with it not being a hard thing to implement. Things often are a lot more work than they may seem on the surface. It already helps that we now have the new damage log so you can see what body part you hit. If limbs don't pen you'd just see arm instead of upper/lower body/head.

@@NixaTek I'd agree it's not easy for crytek, for whatever reason they'd like to give, I do not have much faith in them to be honest. But yes, while you can see what damage has been done to you it's hard to get a feel for what you are capable of doing to others, I'd rather be able to see a damage log of where I hit people, at roughly what range and for how much damage, you shouldn't need to be in a match for that to happen, I'd agree the damage log is a major advantage, it at least breaks down what happened to you, how, when and for how much, but that doesn't really help people on the firing end.

@@NixaTek I know they are, it's just something I think will help people understand how the bullet ballistics work, damage fall off etc better than dying and being told what you were hit for, it's less punishing on new players. As someone who started 2 years ago and now with 3k hours, I'd have loved a proper shooting range for many reasons and think it would help more with player retention and addition than some of the things they've implemented over the 2 years Iv been playing

wait im a bit dumb, so if u shoot someone at 49m on the arm aligned with the chest, it does arm damage, but if u do the same at 50+m it does chest damage?

As I said in the video it's real easy to test yourself. I know it pens since I have clips of shooting them sideways but you won't see both points of view that they are the same as one character will be looking at a random point so I didn't use those clips.

I don't understand how people make all these videos about Hunt. If you just shoot them in the head, no one has to worry about these foreign concepts of "limbs" or "penetration". The only "penetration" I understand is that one time I was 4 years old and my older brother took off my diaper and made it really hard for me to use the bathroom for a couple weeks.
