Yeah this is why I refuse to sit still if I went into a match with shorter range guns. I am going to sprint at the building they are hiding in to get into a more optimal damage range than having my shots do 3 damage. It is pointless to take a long range gunfight with a guy that has a medium to long range weapon when you are running short to medium. I have pretty good success just rushing in if I know the other person has a slow medium/long range weapon and I am dual pistols or something.

I found my aim improved a fair bit over the past few months by using trials as a firing range. Specifically Lawson Station, Slaughterhouse, and Nicholls Prison. Ignore the objective and just headshot grunts. While shooting at Hunters is obviously important, trials helped me with the pure mechanics of getting my sights to go where I want them to. A helpful thing I found is to pretend the grunts are Hunters. Snap shoot, flick shoot, adad spam, sprint after shooting, sprint and transition to a snap shot. Do all the things you would do in a fight.

For newer plays on the bottom half of the MMR pool: Use a Winfield and when the fight starts just start strafing back and forth as you try to hit your enemy, that will make you a lot better at aiming, as you move up in MMR you need to do more advanced strafe dodging. You don't need aim down sights in short range (~15-20 meters) fights, you fire faster when hip firing. Also to counter strafe dodging patiently wait until just after the enemy has switched direction and aim slightly more towards the direction they're heading. If you get hit run for cover if it is close by so you can heal, so try to keep cover closeby, try to never stand still, someone might be lining up your head at any time. Sprinting can be heard incredibly far, like on the other end of a compound far, if you approach a compound at regular speed you're much less likely to have someone waiting for you, similarly chicken and dog pens, as well as crows, can be heard to about the next compound over, avoid them to not start a fight on the enemies' terms. Also crouch walking isn't fully quiet, you can still be heard within ~10 meters if your enemy stands still and listens. The sensitvity matters a lot, on my 1600 cpi I run: default: 1.5 shoulder aim: 0.25 aim down sights/deadeye/marksman/aperature: 0.15 sniper: 0.10 Try to find your own sweetspot, but I can almost guarantee that what you think is fine doesn't work as well as you think.

Since aim is offset in Hunt (lower than centre of screen) it really messes with your reflexes you might have picked up in other shooters. I always look too low because of this
@Bobylein13373 жыл бұрын
This. in any other shooter I have a pretty good intutive idea where I am going to shoot without aiming but hunt really messes it up, even after 400 hours
@tiramin3 жыл бұрын
There's 2 reasons for it The first, quality of life one: If ADS were perfectly centered like other shooter, the big guns would block too much of your screen. QoL, you need to actually see The second, balancing one: Mess with people who use preset crosshairs, specially because ADS have no RNG (except shotguns), just the shaking, and will always be aligned well at quick scope/ads unless you just quick-swapped. Also I don't think Crytek WANTS you to use the same reflexes you have on, let's say, CSGO, on Hunt Showdown. At most they try to use the same keys. Even the unorthodoxical "Shift to ADS in Hunter Controls" relates to games that you need to control your breath for accuracy (Sniper Elite, the Hunter, etc) that, IIRC, use shift for the breath control. More than control schemes, they don't care much on being similar with other shooters. BUT I guess that if enough people make a petition, they can make an option "Center ADS to the screen" maybe?
@yellowsaurus48953 жыл бұрын
@@tiramin they should just make the weapon models smaller or take up less screen space then, instead of messing with crosshair placement. You forgot thing #4: Despite approaching a thousand hours into the game, your hands still shake during a gunfight and you miss even easy shots on stationary targets or enemies not focused on you because you can't stay calm. It makes me miserable that I still get stupidly nervous playing this game (cold sweat, blood draining from the body to the face, the previously mentioned shaky hands) and the only advice I got so far was "just don't take the game so seriously bro". Bruh. I would if I could. Though it used to be even worse because now I'm at least not constantly out of breath when I play. You don't have the time to do a 180º because it involves slowing down and getting melee'd, BUT you can maneuver your way to counter him just because you can be transversally faster and harder to hit.

Pick up bounty, peek a window to see if it's safe to leave & get headshot by one of the 9 other players who are camping every possible lair exit & window. Because trying to leave the lair was a death sentence you would end up with all players camped around the compound, waiting for one poor schmuck to go in & kill the boss. These standoffs would often last 30+ mins. For me it's usually coffee or some pushups or whatnot. But still, with time you learn to accept that you will often do a lot worse than you have the potential for and that's fine, that's just life. In one bounty I experienced something odd. I entered the blanc brinery compound and encountered a solo hunter on the roof standing still. I took aim with my rifle (Mosin Obrez Drum), aiming down sights and went for a headshot. Missed. I aimed and fired again. Missed. Aimed for an upper torso shot and missed the next two shots. The enemy hunter, then fired back from the hip and hit me easily. I dodged and retreated. He fired 3 shots total. All from the hip and all 3 hit me. Dead. I spectated him to see if he was cheating. Two more hunters (duo?) entered the same way I did. He aimed down sights and attempted to headshot the hunter at the rear who was in the open. He missed. He aimed for an upper torso shot and missed. That hunter ran to cover. He switched to the nearer hunter who was now shooting at him partly behind cover. They traded shots and the hunter I was spectating missed every shot he fired and the enemy hunter hit every shot he fired. The same thing that had happened to me. I'm left with this, shot accuracy has little to do with skill, aiming or weapon choice. Aiming down sights correctly and within range should hit 100%. Every time, but that doesn't happen. Something else that we cannot control determines whether we CAN hit our enemy hunter target or not. Is this something in the game programming? I know desync is a huge problem, but when you and your target are not moving that should not be a factor.

As long as you have 3 different FoV setting for weapon down, hip fire, and ADS respectively, a mouse button mapped to melee, and remeber to lower your weapon so it doesn't poke through cover you will be good to go. Hunter does all these automatically, but it takes a bit more work in the settings with gunslinger. The two commands to ADS with Hunter is negligible, you just press them at the same time and you'll go straight to ADS by the time your weapon comes up.

I liked the video, just wanted to make a suggestion for future stuff like this: give your screen texts a black outline. the white text often disappears or is hard to read depending on what else is on screen, with a black outline there's no such issue. it's just a minor nitpick, but I noticed it during the vid and thought I wanna mention it. but besides that, good tips and well put.

I practice defensive movement pretty regularly, but I have trouble orienting myself in the game space. I have good map knowledge of the first 2 maps, but any time I rotate to another piece of cover, I end up losing or being unsure of the other player's last location (partly due to similar assets within compounds), which leads to me to resetting back to neutral rather than getting an advantage. Anybody have advice for keeping track of where people are while rotating?

Honestly this is probably why hunt will never be very big. At some point all these things cause players to leave. Along with the aimbot that is prevalent. The lack of mm on soul survivor doesnt make it better. No one is really going to spend a hundred hours playing when its just not fun.

One thing that gets me killed a lot lately is what I like to call, overleading my shots, it feels like all my shots miss because I always aim slightly more to the side of the enemy hunter's head. This has caused me to go for body shots mostly which gets me killed during trades because, while my shots land they fail to kill and I get domed.

Setting your crosshairs to be at “neutral” level for lining up shots reminds me of Metal Gear Online. Totally different game but similar advice

Edit after watching the video: Is supressing fire as important as rotating? For example, shooting a peak spot like a window so your teammates can relocate. MY problem: Most of my kills are from melee ambushes from flanking, usually with romero hatchet but sometimes with 2 quick stabs to the torso or one knife headshot. I'm posting it before seeing the video, I may edit it. Also, when I DO kill someone by shooting it's either with a specter (yes, the specter). I also got assists by supressing fire, so I think "As long as I can pin someone, my teammate can get the perfect shot"

Same, I win almost every close engagement with a talon'ed romero. Anything beyond slug range and I'm fucked.
@tiramin3 жыл бұрын
@@mariongonzalez2621 I think agressive CQC play is not a bad idea as long as you do it the right way. When you go to CQC you have the advanced of angular (or transversal) speed relative to your target. Romero Hatched with his precise strong attack works wonders. Plus, if you're experienced in close fights, you're probably more used to quick turns (negating your target's transversal against you). Basically, 4FS pushing tutorial in a nutshell.
@jcloudy85083 жыл бұрын
Unless you have a gun that penetrates the cover your enemy is hiding behind, there really doesn't seem to be a point to use "suppressing fire" imo. You can watch the window or angle, but constantly firing in the same spot is just pinging to everyone in the engagement where you are. The longer you spend there, the more time you're giving someone else to relocate on you.
@tiramin3 жыл бұрын
@@jcloudy8508 Good point, but maybe there is a situation where supressing a window or a bad cover is useful, maybe an exception to the rules. But well, now firebombs can deny a window for 2 minutes, maybe it's a better option.
@jcloudy85083 жыл бұрын
@@tiramin if it's not metal they're hiding behind, it can be useful with long ammo guns! They shoot thru most of the cover we have in the game. So you could suppress the opening they're using, or if you got a tag, keep shooting the wall/place you think they hid behind, you might get a cheeky wall bang 😉

Always a tightrope to walk with aim really. Sometimes, taking the extra second to aim during an exchange will win the fight because it landed the killing blow and sometimes it is what got you killed, though part of knowing is also taking note of your opponents; are they panic shooting and just letting loose wildly? Are they also taking time to line up shots? These are things that also play into improvement. And the big one: Play what works for you. It is good to explore other weapons and go into uncomfortable zones (personally been trying to use the Sparks...ugh I...ahem...hate that weapon...feels so clunky) however if you are getting success with hitting shots on a winfield but can't hit dick with a mosin, don't fret it. End of the day, the best way to improve is to enjoy the game so play what you love...unless that is being a little bush wookie try-hard sweatlord in which case...have fun! Hope you have good games. Didn't expect that did you?

Dudes,my advice is:use cheap dual pistols and a sawed off shotgun This way you will become more careful with hipfire and therefore git gud in close range gunfights Also I find dualies+shotgun a pretty fun loadout for close combat If u run out of shotgun ammo,switch to dualies and spam bullets and vice versa Also remember that every hit makes enemy's aim bounce off so shotguns are still a bit dangerous at distance in case u need to run away and hide/finish a dying opponent with low hp
@4FSGaming3 жыл бұрын
The issue is that it hard caps your ability to fight against decent opponents, without the ability to flick headshots at different distances you won't learn that skill, and will struggle against competent enemies.
@NotReallyLaraCroft3 жыл бұрын
@@4FSGaming well as I said it's a totally close range loadout I'm bad at shooting heads at distance therefore I find stealthy approach with shotgun and dualies for the case when something goes wrong better than stuff that's used by "competent opponents" I never understood how people fo headshots on non stationary targets and I think never will so rifles aren't my thing

Useful guide, thank you. I have over 2500 hours in the game, but still love watching the game guides. Unfortunately, even with my great experience, having 6 stars, I often lose firefights because the server doesn't register hits on the enemy. My ping is only 10ms, but a bullet can just hit the wall behind the head of an enemy that hasn't even moved. This happens SLIGHTLY too often, I just don't know what to do. In a game where a single shot decides the outcome of a battle, the hits don't register... This is unacceptable.

My personal tip. Is well. U play other fps games. Ur muscle memory is used "crosshair in the middle" while in hunt the crosshair is in the lower half. And i noticed. In almost 90% of my game. I dont kill shots bec i keep hitting the leg when flicking. Cuz of my muscle memory used to the middle of the screen not the lower half. Simple.

Just the other day i started thinking about quitting Hunt and ... this video seems like a personal attack to that. Meme aside, what im personally struggling with is ( outside of being incapable of hiting a target at 50+ meters i mean ) the micro decisions that i have to make or the ones i have to predict from my enemies. Which is why i find it a bit sad that you dont have at least no commentary and uncut matches from you 4FS, because a lot of what you say makes a lot of sense but i feel the examples you provide are too cherry picked and i usually dont find myself in the complete same situations as you are meaning its harder to apply it. Like i keep hearing about dont peak the same place twice and move after shooting, but when i apply this principle to my enemies or people who i watch play the game... this seems like a trap. I cant tell you how many times i figured the enemy wont be fool enough to peak from same spot again after i or my teammate just hit him, but when i duck out to look around: Lo and behold the enemy is peaking from the same place ( or just literally standing in the same spot in the open ) and im dead. I appearently did the right tactic, but i still got punished for it. Same thing when enemies go to the open. I see pros and enemies who are suppose to be avarage at my skill level take massive risks on open fields and rooftops and get away with or when they go for an instant revive in a somewhat view blocked place. When i try this i get headstotted 2 second in. So even if i was a much better long range shooter, no matter if i do the exact same tactic as people better than me i always get punished for it while the enemies get away with it.
@leadpaintchips94613 жыл бұрын
From my experiences, if you're facing a lot of players who don't apply the tips, punish them. Watch that window, keep pressuring those people out in the open, wait for the revive to drop them again. It's those micro decisions as you said that come up. Needing to have a plan for both someone playing smart and someone playing dumb. Are you in a position that's safe for either decision by your opponent? Which choice is riskier to you at that moment, and what can you do to punish it? I know I say all these things, but I'm horrible at it. Like I can't read people worth a damn.
