“Hunted” || short story teaser/concept

Summary:
It’s the year 3091 and for many years, “normal” people and those with supernatural abilities have coexisted together happily. Crime rate went down, peace was kept and everyone was happy. Until one day those with powers of any sort started going missing. Eventually, the numbers accumulated too much to the point where the military and government turned on the people for unknown reasons, spiraling everything into chaos. Now, any and all survivors are being hunted down by military troops. We follow Valarie and her giant wolf-dog companion Aspen as they fight for their survival. Valarie and Aspen have been hiding in her father’s bunker for three years since this war began. They leave every three days to find whatever food and resources they need to survive another day. Valarie’s main goals are to find fellow survivors and to find the truth as to why people are being hunted down, especially those who are gifted with supernatural powers/abilities. Follow Valarie and Aspen as they fight to find fellow survivors while avoiding being caught by troops and uncovering the dark truths to this war and the past. Will Valarie find any survivors? What happens when someone is taken by the troops? Why did the government turn on its people and what are they hiding?

The chills it gave me when Ellie said “I’m scared” I felt how terrified she would have been if she almost got caught by troops before! It doesn't matter how old you are or where you come from- it can affect anyone. Chances are you know someone currently or someone who has battled cancer. 2- In November of 2023, my grandfather was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer, and it's been really tough for me and my family. It was hard to hear and to understand all of the different tests and treatments and what they were doing for him, since they only seemed like they were doing harm. It was difficult for the first few months and is still difficult to come to terms with now. But it also got me thinking about how many other students have a similar experience and what ## was doing to help. Maybe you've experienced something similar with a family member or friend. 3- I did some digging and found out that our school doesn't have any support groups for students dealing with cancer. It's pretty surprising, considering how much## talks about mental health because cancer can hurt a students mental health greatly . So, I decided to do a survey, and I got a 50% response rate. But with that, every single person who responded knew someone with cancer. 4+5- That's why I've been working on a proposal for a support group called "Strength in Stories:## Cancer Support Group." This group would meet regularly to talk about how cancer affects our lives.Even though we may not be the one with cancer, it's still affecting us, and what our lives will look like with the diagnosis of our loved one. 6- I feel this is really important because having a support group like this could make a huge difference in the lives of students dealing with cancer. It would be a space where we could talk openly and honestly. It would be a place where we could share our stories, support each other, and not feel so alone in our struggles. 7- In closing, mental health is a part of dealing with cancer, affecting not only the patient but also their loved ones. The 'Strength in Stories' group will serve as an area for the community to discuss feelings, offer support, and work through the emotional trauma that comes with having a loved one with cancer. Every student should have access to support, and as a school community, we can turn 'Strength in Stories' into a reality. I hope you'll join me in making this vision come true.
