Hunter Original Ceiling Fan (Matte Silver)

I believe CeilingFanCentral's silver Original with slower low had to do with cold climate, and whoisthisguy724 switched the wires between "2" and "3" on pull chain switch to make low speed slower. Medium uses both "2" and "3" and "2" originally has smaller capacitor.

That Matte Silver Original is my most favorite Originals you have. Although the USA made ones will always be the best Originals during that time period. The last time Hunter had cast iron blade arms was in the 1950s for their pre-Original era, the Originals before switching over to cast iron blade arms had die-cast zinc blade arms. From the 1.9 amp pre-Originals, 1 amp, 1.1 amp, 2.5 amp, and 2 amp Originals, the 2 amp ones are the most powerful Originals being produced in 1993-early 2002. Hunter did screwed up the Original by removing the 4" main bearing shaft by using the 2" main bearing shaft, and making the capacitor values faster when they shifted the production to overseas in late 2002. The overseas Original plant started from Taiwan, then China. When the Original is China made, 2015 makes the best year for Originals because they put back the 4" main bearing shaft, and adjusted the capacitor values. The China made Originals produced today is better. Today's Originals have cast iron blade arms, and has 4 holes on the U-Bolt for electrical boxes and wooden joist.

If you ever have to return that Hunter Original for warranty, I suggest you to change the wire leads on “2” and “3” of the chain switch back before returning it, so they wouldn’t say the warranty is void from tampering. But it’s good that you got nice slow low speed out of it.

One of my black originals came with cast iron blade brackets. Guess they changed them along with the release of the matte silver originals. It is even more powerful than my other black original that I just got one year earlier.

Assuming you’re talking about my fan when you mentioned that you watched videos of other silver Originals that were slower on low speed; The low speed on my fan is slower because I swapped the wire leads for the speed control capacitors (slots 2 and 3 on the pull chain switch) so that the lower value capacitor is activated on its own for low speed. From the factory, the higher value capacitor is activated to provide a functional low speed rather than an aesthetic one, then both capacitors are activated in tandem to produce medium speed

@@treybeschman The wires are stabbed into the switch. All you'll need to back them out is a flat-head eyeglass screwdriver. Push it into the slot where the wire is and pull both out at the same time. If you did things right, the switch should hold the wires when you push them back in

I'm not sure but it's one of those that goes over the beam in the ceiling so it's installed right into the wood.
