It’s incredible that Moring Mark got some things right for the final two episodes. Like Hunter having Flapjack’s magic in For the Future and The Collector being redeemed in Watching and Dreaming.

I didn't remember this comic and it came out before For the Future so every day I'm more sure that Morinmark is either Danna or works with her doing the series and the comics are like alternative stories if they hadn't canceled it

I have a feeling that the staff was basically a magic wand like the one we saw in that one episode where Luz learned her ice glyph but instead it has a permanent powersource so the magic never has to recharge. That is probably why Luz was able to use it also. Hunter does have a bile sac but it is dormant or inactive due to him being half human. When Flapjack gave his life force to him it must have activated the cells in his bile sack to get it to function. Either the human DNA caused his bile sack to be inactive or Belos tweeked his DNA to where his bile sac wouldn't work.

This is why Sokka trained in melee combat. I am surprised Hunter didn't do the same. He is so used to using magic that it has become a crutch for him,same with Eda. When they both were without magic they basically became pushover's in fights. While learning magic is essential they should put as much effort in to honing their physical abilities and combat skills.

Well, they are all using magic to fight. Amity uses her goo to form giant fists and shields when in melee. The golden guard phasewalks and creates powerful blasts of energy when he hits. He is pretty adept at close-quarter combat, if i do say so myself.
