This wasn't stated in the 2011 anime but Ging took care of Gon for 2 years, and I don't know if you remember, but there was a flashback with baby gon and him in Whale island where he wanted to leave Gon with his grandmother but only for a while, telling her that he and Gon's mother had separated. However, Ging lost the custody of his son in court to his cousin Mito. So technically, he didn't abandoned Gon completely and still cared. At least he didn't lock his child in an underground room of a volcano for years.

Alluka and Kalluto are both female. The Zoldycks treat their daughters as sons so they wouldn't feel like their potential as warriors / assassins is held back because of their sex. In Kalluto you see a successful example of this type of education; she acts more warriorlike than any of her brothers, probably to compensate for her biology. In Alluka's case this approach has failed completely, since she acts like a little girl regardless of her upbringing.

So remember how back at the beginning of the show when everyone was telling you guys that Kalluto was a boy and that all of the Zoldycks with the exception of the mom are male? Alluka is the reason for that, because she was born male but identifies as female, mainly due to her powers, I believe. Killua is the only person in his family that refers to her with female pronouns because he's the only one that truly cares about her, while everyone else in her family sees her as some sort of monster that needs to be locked away. It's Togashi doing a really cool metaphor for transphobia, by giving Alluka this weird thing that scares everybody except the people that take the time to understand and accept it. Alluka's gender stuff is very confusing, but it's fine, because she's a sweet bean and needs to be protected at all costs. 15:20 Good luck. Alluka's rules are super-convoluted on purpose. They go over them in this episode, and that set of rules continues to grow as the arc goes on. Just rules on top of rules on top of more rules. It's silly, especially when we get to the end of the arc.

Thats a theory, but we have no confirmation on the birth, parentage, or physiology of Alluka... or Nanika... but without going into spoilers, all i can say you are jumping to conclusions without evidence. The manga reveals more clues, but the origins and 'sex' of alluka are just not confirmed for the time being. Within this episode however, Silva himself says that "it came from somewhere else". We shouldnt take those words lightly...

As Killua is pretty much the only one who seems to be close to and care for Alluka, it's safe to say that he's the one treating her better by doing so. Because of that, we can safely assume that Alluka was born male (thus why the family and butlers treat her as a boy), but is transgender and identifies as female (and that Killua's the only one who cares about her enough to respect that). It's a really neat subtle bit of storytelling.

If you actually spend some time looking at the given clues, you'll realize that this is much more complex than a simple case of the Zoldycks not appreciating transsexualism (which is very unlikely in the first place; this family obviously doesn't mind individualism, so they presumably wouldn't care about gender identity). The reason they raise their daughters as boys is so they'd have confidence in their potential to surpass others, be it male or female, in martial arts. For the Zoldycks, Kalluto is a resounding success, whereas they probably gave up on Alluka once they found out about Nanika.
