The reason why they say he is the one to lead the family is because it’s tradition that the one that is born with the white hair is predestined to become the head of the household. And Killua is the chosen one with that characteristic Also what comes with the white hair is the potential and strength that could surpass most of the family members. This isn’t really confirmed but it’s pretty much implied by the fact that most of the other members don’t have the abilities Killua has such as the sharp nails. Each one has to compensate for their lack of strength for example, Illumi using needles or Milluki using technology

i'm pretty sure its because the mother took kalluto in as a protege as most of the family seems to ignore him. And so has been influenced by the mother a lot. Although he refers to himself with masculine pronouns a few times. It could also be because the mother wanted a daughter but never giving birth to one, she has shaped him to the daughter she wanted as she is young, and therefore able to be influenced, whilst being the most similar to the mother out of all the kids.

Killuas dad and grandpa are pretty okay from a personality standpint. His dad is defenitely the better parent comparing him an Killuas mother (I always forget her name, dam it!)

It doesn't affect the story or character development but it does reveal a character relationship before hand. However, this relationship is not a secret, it just isn't revealed for over 100 episodes. That being said, consider yourself warned if you are easily offended. Kalluto and alluka can confuse first time watchers. Alluka is biologically Male, but identifies as female. Killua uses female pronouns while the rest of her family uses Male pronouns because they don't respect her individuality like killua does. Kalluto dresses in female clothes but as far as I know still identifies as Male. I believe he does this to gain killua's affection since killua really cares for alluka
