Even though the show makes a point of Gon ironically being sent down a rather dark path in the latter half of this arc, it's still cool? They're 12 damn years old. Obviously killing is the only correct choice, but a child shouldn't have to do this.
@DisProfundis10 ай бұрын
@@fahrenheit2101 There is difference between killing or being for forced to kill for money (as an assassin) and killing when it's absolutely necessary. The difference between the two is that in the latter case, more maturity is involved. Maturity is when you understand the distinction between reason and action and know where to apply it. And that's why there is no need to worry about Killua having to kill here, since he is more emotionally mature than he was in the past. Gon also shows decent maturity in this case, when he knows in his head that it is necessary to kill here. Coming back to Killua, it's blatantly obvious that Killua isn't being forced to kill here, he is rather making conscious decision to carry out his duty. And he has that maturity. Killing unnecessarily is stupid. But when absolutely necessary, every capable and emotionally stable person needs to take charge for the greater good. Be it 12, or 62, and they also need to take bear the turmoil that follows thereafter. A mature person can handle that, and Killua is this context surely does. He isn't killing indiscriminately like in his assassin days but having thought it all out. Kids have been hunting "animals" since ages, violence is a part of our genetics. There is no harm in that. Unlike most animals who can only "act" in accordance to their nature, humans are capable of both reason and action. Age is not a bound. So we have the capacity to reason before we can act, that's what differentiates an action of a serial killer and a police officer. In short, there is no right or wrong, or they are defined in terms of necissity. Something which is unnecessary is labelled wrong, and something which is necessary becomes right. Ultimately you decide that. As we live in a society, it's the society which decides. Ultimately for self preservation of both you and your loved ones, families compromise and current state of morals are acceptable to most people. Alas it's absolutely pathetic how many people on the internet project a higher moral ground just because of their myopic perspective to not think anything beyond the mainstream.
@fahrenheit210110 ай бұрын
@@DisProfundis They aren't mature. I agree it is necessary, but no 12 year old has the emotional maturity to truly understand the weight of killing nor death. I'm not projecting any sort of morals, I just think 12 year olds killing is difficult to see as perfectly normal. Because it isn't perfectly normal. It's impressive, it's necessary, but it's concerning. It is fair to say Killua is more emotionally mature (Gon's a push), but even then, he's using techniques he'd long since abandoned and I don't imagine that's leave a sweet taste in his mouth. He in fact seemed rather reluctant to "flip his switch". And for his character that makes perfect sense, he's being dragged back into the world of killing that he ran away from in the first place. Perhaps his reasons for leaving it weren't moral, but in any case, I don't think this is to be celebrated. When he first meets Gon, I don't imagine he's wondering "aww, I wonder when we'll start to kill people together". He sees the guy as an escape from all that, and just plain fun. CA is not fun. Killua is rarely even happy once in CA, Gon even less so. It's fair to say they did the right thing, but it's not a healthy state of mind for anybody, let alone a child. It's impossible to see Gon's character arc in CA and go "hell yeah, so cool - he got like super big and killed that cat-girl with the epic punch". At the least, that's shallow, at worst, it's completely ignoring absolutely everything important. In short, they make the mature decision, yes, but for one, they're supervised by Kite who actively told them to do so, and second, making the mature decision does not equate to being mature. This applies mostly to Gon in particular and evidently so, but with Killua it's mostly just that he very clearly isn't a fan of having to do this, but given his complex upbringing, assigning morals to it might not be as relevant.
@DisProfundis10 ай бұрын
@@fahrenheit2101 Killua is mature in this regard. And no, a 12 year old can be as mature as an adult in many regards, it is more of an experience dependent thing than age. And Killua has unfortunately had all that since birth. "I just think 12 year olds killing is difficult to see as perfectly normal." Understandable. I see it as normal if the person has the physical capacity and emotional stability to handle death and violence irrespective of age, gender, or anything. There is a loophole here, in order for a person to mature, he has to have those experiences. So in order for early emotional maturation towards death, their emotional unstable mind needs to be exposed to violence, which would betray the earlier point. But there is really no way out of this though since even an adult can be traumatized. I don't see much difference in either case. To put it simply, controlled exposure to such experiences is the most healthy way to lead a person towards emotional maturity. Gon definitely ended up more mature in this regard towards the end of the arc, except his exposure wasn't healthy as we see later, partly because of the lack of a guiding figure in his life. "he's using techniques he'd long since abandoned" Even after he has removed the needle (metaphorically liberating himself from his family's ways), he still uses these techniques. The influence of his family was in his mentality and not actions. And now he's directing those actions, those techniques with proper reasoning behind him. Killua has never shown any contempt towards the techniques, rather to their application in assassination. A person is responsible for murder, not the knife. "he's being dragged back into the world of killing that he ran away from in the first place." Definitely not. Killua is fully aware that living a life of hunter will eventually involve him getting into fatal combat, except now he has the ability to decide between necessary action and unnecessary action. "Killua is rarely even happy once in CA, Gon even less so." Yes ofc it's not fun. Neither for kids nor for adults. Taking necessary actions will hardly be fun, but the capable people have to commit to it, be it Killua or Morel. "let alone a child." Again Killua thanks to his early desensitization towards death, and experiences with Gon along with his conscious decision to not take part in killing, has the ability to access the necessary from unnecessary. " they're supervised by Kite who actively told them to do so" Even when not supervised Killua shows that he is mature to handle it throughout the arc. He acts more maturely than many adults in the show. As for Gon, he has great moral backbone, what he lacks is maturity to handle loss, which eventually led to his downfall. Hunting will eventually involve taking these tough decisions, it doesn't matter what your age is, you'll have to deal with it to come out stronger. You can feel sorry for them, but I think it's necessary for their own good since they want to live like hunters not some sheltered kids of 2023. And living as free as the hunters in the show is probably the most fulfilling life one can dream of.

@@eloquitodelaesquina The first hypothesis is to consider consciousness necessary for sadism and then, being a sadist is only possible by having consciousness, so only humans can be sadists, in this case: Why on earth would this whole approach make any difference, since nothing changed for the ants, for it would be impossible for them to be sadists if humanity in their genes anyway, they were neither good nor bad, just animals before that. The second hypothesis is to consider the actions of ants morally since the beginning, as we are human beings and can judge everything because we have conscience. We can judge a black widow's actions as terrible, even if she doesn't have our level of consciousness, just as we can judge a psychopath even if he has physically proven illnesses. (Noting that seeing a lion killing its prey is a sad thing for a person with a modern heart, it's funny to see that the hypothesis that this vision fits is at least questionable here). At first, the entire discussion proposed by Togashi doesn't even make sense, it's empty. In the second, this is where it gets interesting, because all the horrible actions without the human gene still count, and it makes us wonder how much of humanity did good or bad in this joint evolution. I don't know if I made myself understood in the first comment, so I emphasize and add now: interpreting sadism as something intrinsically human is a mistake (apart from nonsense in the interpretation of art that you think is cool to talk about because you learned it in your modern art course). Understand: Each being is an individual, and sadism, here, is the work of that individual alone! If all ants were sadists, then you would have a cool point to see humanity's SUPER ACCURATE INTERPRETATION of how humanity destroys nature and all things on earth with its atrocious individualism. (It's cool to realize that individualism is exactly what you need to use to interpret all this nonsense with YOUR head) Individualism versus collectivism, that's the obvious discussion of this arc, what Togashi did. Love is the something greater that transcends this, and the end. Everything in the arc converges on this. How Netero thought of humans as collective, but he was individualistic in having fun in the process. Gon succumbs to complete individualism, Kilua faces the height of his sympathy for others. Name a character and I'll tell you their arc in relation to these two extremes. EVERYTHING, ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING COMES TO THIS. Please stop this discussion, I don't want social classes.

They were probably not very good humans as part of Gyro's military/drug dealers but nobody deserved to be treated like that. in the end they feel so desperate, begging for their lives and doing what they think Yunju expects of them.

When you think about it cartel men can do much worse than what they got done by the ants. Have you seen their torture videos? You truly realize how scary and psychopathic humanity can be.

Have you guys heard of the anime "Ranking of Kings"? From what I can tell I think you guys will love it. The way you guys became attached to Zuko in avatar and Mob in Mob Psycho, I think you will love the show. I don't want to spoil anything but it is very wholesome and the characters are not one dimensional. They have some depth to them.

@2:00 I'd say one prevails, because much like with humans (and I assume other mammals) we initially develop as female in our mothers womb, and if the baby is a boy it develops further to accomodate that. Something similar likely would happen withthe Chimera Ants. Chances are the Human data takes priority, but otherwise perhaps there could even be some dismorphia involved in the event of some adjacent-conflicting wills or data among the species. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

We don't develop as "females", it's just that male-female are sexually indistinguishable at a particular stage.

Pitou is the only chimera ant in the series that's verbally referred to as "they" or "it" but never he or she. I just assumed that the royal guard are genderless because their only purpose for their species is to protect the king, not procreate.
@DisProfundis11 ай бұрын
It's a she. She uses "boku" in Japanese which is mostly used by young boys so that's where the confusion comes from. Since "boku" can also be used by adults or tomboys. Pitou went from a tomboy to a more feminine form of a mother, which is her real form, and the evolution is exhibited through her designs where she looks completely female towards the end. Even the hunter x hunter translator confirms she is female.

Chimera Ant look male/female, but every that isnt a queen is Male. Due to how insects work, they may or may not have the mammal genitalia on top of the male ant biology. Have in mind tho, which is very specific, Neferpitou is named as He and It, to emphasize how big of a "monster" it is
@DisProfundis11 ай бұрын
Nope we literally have Zazan who is clearly female and refers to herself as Queen. Same goes for all the CA ants, ones with male parts are male and the ones with female reproductive part are females. And Pitou is most likely female, that 'he' is not an accurate translation.
@Joan-jq5ho11 ай бұрын
@@DisProfundis you seem to miss the point where Chimera Ants biologically are born Insects. As I stated before, everyone who isnt a queen is by their biology male. Its literally explained that as a last ditch effort for the species, if the queen dies, the soldiers spread out and try to mate with other females. As I also stated before, because Chimera Ants are Ants, therefore by their biology insects first, because of Mammals genes in the mix, they may have mammal genitalia, like Zazan having breasts. Case in point, they have egos and personalities that are affected by their human lifes, reason why they may identify themselves as he or she, does not take the fact away that their biology grants them the Ants Male Genitalia for reproduction to make a new Queen, it comes with them with their life. Insect Genitalia is not the same, and also doesnt replace, Mammal Genitalia. And while it is never explained further, for obvious reasons, it doesnt stop them posibly having both insect and mammal genitalia. But what is for sure is that they have the male insect genitalia, it comes with them. Now, I assume you did not read the manga, but it is very clear that they refer to Pitou as the neutral gender, be it to make it ambiguous or just to really show off how "inhumane" Pitou is naturally. But calling Pitou female straight out of the bat is a bit disingenuous, since even in the Manga mostly looks like a boy, of course not denying when it looks like a girl, but she also uses the pronoun Kare, be it to make Pitou look Tomboyish as it is in some cases with characters, but it is a stricly male pronoun. Nevertheless, as I explained before, all Chimera Ants that arent a Queen are built to be able to reproduce with any female of other species in case they must, which is a solidification that they must have the same male genitalia shared between them, not excluding the fact that they biologically may have inherited the mammal genitalia that was used as a gene provider to make said ant. Since once again, insect biology is not the same as mammal biology, and one doesnt stop the other from existing
@DisProfundis11 ай бұрын
"everyone who isnt a queen is by their biology male." It's a headcanon with no basis on what's shown in the show. "you seem to miss the point where Chimera Ants biologically are born Insects." Not all insects are same and CAs are even special in that. " if the queen dies, the soldiers spread out and try to mate with other females." And? " they may have mammal genitalia, like Zazan having breasts" She explicitly calls herself the queen and is looking for males to copulate (using her queen shot that is). The mammal genetics have added to their sexual identity as male and female thanks to those genitals. "Insect Genitalia is not the same, and also doesnt replace, Mammal Genitalia. " They don't have insect genitalia, they don't copulate the same way because of their varied genetics. Kite is a female, doesn't matter what he identifies as, he is not copulating the male way with his female body. "Now, I assume you did not read the manga" I can confidently say I have read more number of times than you, don't worry. " but it is very clear that they refer to Pitou as the neutral gender" It is because of her Japanese pronoun "boku." In Japan, it is mostly used by young teenage boys, but ofc its not limited to them. Adults (eg. Hisoka) and tomboys (eg. Pitou) also tend to use it. The ambiguous appearance of Pitou also didn't help in the manga during her introduction. But as the manga progresses we see her evolve into completely feminine appearance, showing her evolution from a tomboyish monster too a humane motherly figure, the same way Zazan grows bigger breasts after becoming queen. Appearance plays a big role in the arc to show both internal and external evolution. To be more unbiased I'll put the exact excerpt of the interview between Lillian Olsen, HxH english translator regarding Pitou's gender : "Interviewer: Yeah, ok. Lets see, this is from an_an_h: In your opinion is Neferpitou a boy or a girl? Lillian: Oh, I figured I'd get in trouble for that one. I never questioned that he was not a boy. Cause in the beginning he was very creepy and just over time he got cuter and cuter. My husband claims he thought he was cute the whole time, that he thought that she was a girl. Oh, this is interesting, I got to ask Mr. Takahiro Yoshimatsu, the anime character designer, at last year's Emerald City Comicon, but he was in Seattle. And he never questioned that he was not a girl, so there you go... I: So the answer is he's not a girl and he's not a boy? L: That he's a girl." In fact many female characters from other anime use the pronouns "boku", so might as well start calling them boys. Example: Diane from Seven Deadly sins, 02 from darling in the FranXX etc. These are called bokukkos. "Most bokukko are tomboys, but not all; sometimes it just indicates that the user is a Plucky Girl or unaware of social norms. When the show is dubbed, however, this will invariably lead to a Dub-Induced Plot Hole due to English first-person pronouns lacking such hints." "all Chimera Ants that arent a Queen are built to be able to reproduce with any female of other species in case they must" except Knov spoke it generally for male soldiers which is usually the case, we have clear example of Zazan calling herself the queen and finding males to copulate with. Zazan said she's a queen, in japanese "queen" is written 女王 which literally means "woman king". She made an ability to quickly make soldiers because mating would be slower (as a woman she must be pregnant). Males don't need to worry about all this. "she also uses the pronoun Kare" IIRC it's from the databook which is completely unreliable and has bunch of contradictions with canon. She is only called with "aitsu" in the manga meaning that person not "kare" ever in the manga. So the arguments "all ants are male" and "ants don't have gender" are wrong. In conclusion, the pronoun in the manga can't tell Pitou's gender. Togashi has never explicitly said what's her gender and only drawn her female after Kite's death. There's nothing suggesting that Pitou is a boy. The only evidence is her appearance which is strictly feminine. The 2011 anime director said he had no doubt she was a girl, most japanese have no doubts about her being a girl because of her appearance.

There are only 4 rational things that I could thing of as to why Kite chooses this kinds of ability is that; 1. All of the weapons that he can get from the slot are equally overpowered but has different applications. 2. Now that we have talk about different applications, 2nd reason is that Kite is just an OP Nen user and has a complete self-confidence in his ability to overcome any instances, he believes in his judgement as a person that the randomness that his Nen abilities gives is just another challenges that he can conquer. 3. He just like solving puzzles and he wants to solve anything on whatever he is given. 4. Even though the weapons are just simply weapons, the effect is multiplied hence I said from reason 1 that they are overpowered but this ability has a second function, like a defense mechanism that involves "death". I feel like this is the ability of the clown head in his Nen ability, because it is randomize, when the user got f****d up because of the gambling nature, the ability will have to give back to the user. The girls will understand this when they got to that point.
