My dad passed away earlier this month on May 5th, super unexpectedly from an acute cardiac arrest. He had lived with me for the past 7 years. We coverted our garage into a room for him. Anyways, for 2 weeks straight before his passing, every morning starting around 5am, a red bird would start tapping on his bedroom window. Every single day!! It hasn't done that a day since he passed. I'd never heard the old sayings about red birds until after he passed away, and someone told me that if a red bird taps on your window, that means death is coming and then someone else told me that if you just see a red bird, then it means someone from heaven is visiting you. I will always cherish this song, simply because it came out right after my dad passed away and because of his red bird. Now, when I see a red bird, I know it's my daddy visiting me. 🥰 Oh and BTW, Huntergirl.... your Fayetteville neighbors are so proud of you🎉

A cardinal visited me at my kitchen window on the day of my son’s brain aneurysm surgery. I looked up the meaning of a visit from a cardinal- they bring a message of complete and total restoration. He did not make it through the operation but I realized then- total restoration can only happen in heaven. I miss him but he sends me signs that he is happy. I see cardinals just when I m feeling sad like the lyrics in your beautiful red bird song! You are an amazing singer and songwriter.

They stayed all year long and watched her in her window. It's crazy but comforting seeing them all. We would always see a really fat red bird and joke that it was dad. OMG Red Dragon, I LOVE Heartbreak Down to. Can you imagine her in concert singing these last 3 songs to the end the show in order: Heartbreak Down, Riot and Redbird. Wow! Simply beautiful! This song couldn't have come along at a better time. I recently lost my father due to his earthly battle with agent orange. He served 3 tours is Vietnam and was diagnosed in 2010. He fought a valiant fight for 11 years but succumbed to this horrific disease. Since his passing, I have noticed more red birds in my yard, often they fly and sit right on our front porch. Man I know its you Pops. Love and miss you every day. Thanks so much for writing and performing this song. And thank you for all you do for the (us) vets. Hope to see you in concert. I'm just up the road in Clarksville, TN.
