Dan White, my new favorite sax player. Caught him last evening in Ann Arbor with Kurt Elling ... dude is badass! As is Chris Ott, and as is this band! Wow!!!

I just finished listening and now I’m sad that it’s over. I randomly discovered them this morning and listening to and watching them just makes me happy.

These guys are the masters of the rhythmic stretch. I am late to the party, having only stumbled on HT earlier this year, but I love their entire catalog. In almost everything they do, they play so liberally around the beat -- mostly behind it in this languid, ultra-hip way. No Look is a great example: in the head, they s t r e t c h the execution of the horn lines so much that they're almost lapped by the rhythm guys, but in a calculated and oh-so-cool way. Anyone with a chance to see the Stretchmasters -- uh, Huntertones -- should grab it , because they don't play on their own (i.e., not fronting for others) all that much. Hopefully, they'll do something about that, because they put on a very fun show. New England, guys!!

Is it just me or NO LOOK feels a lot like a Roy Hargrove inspired track. Lovin’ it. Much Respecc to Huntertones. Miss you Roy.

Oh man! As soon as I heard the horn arrangements, I thought of one of my favorite horn bands - Matrix. John Harmon must have influenced you guys. Fantastic and creative to the nth power!

It feels like Time to Play is when the band went from good to great. Everything is tighter than the earlier stuff, the musicians are more together and really listening to each other. Is that the Cato influence?
