one thing to note about the frenzy virus is that I believe it's also dependent on # of attacks done. I don't have any numbers to confirm it, but in my experience, getting rid of the frenzy with dual swords is significantly easier than getting rid of it with greatswords

Throbbius Maximus You know, I wasn't sure about this either. I've seen conflicting reports. You might be right, but I don't want to scare away slower weapon users. I use GS mostly these days and I'm perfectly capable of clearing the virus. So nobody panic! Use whatever is fun for you!

BrickwallsGames It's definitely the number of attacks. You can technically get over the virus by kicks alone (I've done it). But the number of attacks depends on the weapon you're using so you don't need as many hits with a GS than you do with a DB. Also you don't need to attack the monster that gave you the virus...any monster will do. Even the corpse of a dead monster will work.

Metalmine It's possible some attacks count for more than others or that damage also has some kind of impact. But I definitely wouldn't be able to get out of it purely with kicks on small monsters if it were entirely damage based.

To any new players watching this, you can see Brick using an Insect Glaive. I HIGHLY recommend using an IG for this hunt, being able to mount anytime comes in handy when trying to break him out of shagaru mode (the horns) as the Magala is knocked over for a very long time after mounting (as is the case with most monsters) making it easy to attack the head. Also being as mobile as you are with white essence is very, very useful against and equally mobile monster. If you're a veteran player then yeah use whatever you want, but if you're new and haven't quite found your niche yet, learn IG for this fight, it'll help not only with this but with an urgent a bit farther down the line...

***** I wouldn't recommend an insect glaive, since you need to lvl the kinsect before upgradeing the actual weapon, brick was using the gore magala ig but he didn't upgrade it at all regardless of his actual rank, for new players, don't use an insectglaive unless your focusing on that and only that, the insect glaive is the most expensive weapon in the game to keep up to date, if you do use it, make sure you have enough of the materials for 2 of the same glaives, 1 to focus on speed, as you see bricks is moving snail speed where a maxed out speed is like a bullet. the other to focus on getting the legendary ig.I say get a fire weapon since gore magala is massively weak to fire. fire thunder and dragon, dragon is -2, thunder is -2 fire is -4 and the only fire insect glaive isn't until g rank with ash keshawhen I went up against him I used the rathian chargeblade, i even went up against shagura magala with the rathian chargeblade but i upgraded it once to get more sharpness,

Might be good to mention where the monster usually resides. Like where he travels through and where he sleeps. Can usually be found on kiranico but would be good information for a hunting guide at the very end.

Kin Peng Mok I've thought about this. I do talk about it in the Full Hunt, but honestly I feel like it isn't truly necessary for me to put in the guide. It can be solved with the liberal application of a paintball. You ARE right. It would be quite useful. I'm just not interested in adding another piece of information dumping to the videos. For monsters that appear in a lot of maps, it would get REALLY tedious. :)

Frenzy virus is definitely one of the more interesting of the new mechanics, you can either be extremely rewarded or extremely punished depending on how you play your cards.

You can also cure the completed Frenzy ailment, the one with the red icon that appears if your meter fills prior to attacking enough to get the Frenzy buff instead, with three ticks of a Steam Bomb from the wyceum.

Something to note, you can affect how long it will take Gore to go into frenzy mode. If you stay in the pools of frenzy virus a lot, he will go into frenzy mode MUCH quicker than if you avoid them. I've seen him go into frenzy mode as quick as two minutes by just standing in the pools. So try to avoid them as best as you can.

Dude one thing to not. Gore has three stages (yes three) i have no proof but stage 2 is the hardest for me because the frenzy explosions are harder to dodge. With a more unpredictable move pattern (At least for me)

Just bought MH4U and got stuck on this guy for while. I refused to learn IG and stuck with HH and got beaten up too many times lol. Hard to unlearn going for the head and hard to instinctively roll towards the monster instead of away. 😓 Great fight though! When I finally felt like I could beat him the fight was actually pretty fun. The key is to just almost never get hit (esp when your Palicos are down) because this guy can knock you down immediately when you get back up, phew!
