Actually fun fact! When there’s a large predator in an area, most ambiance (birds, bugs, etc) will either go silent or in some cases make certain sounds which alert others of its kind! It’s pretty interesting (and scary) when it happens.

Yes it is. Was out in the middle of nowhere (North Texas). We were walking back and I noticed that everything that was chirping singing or anything like that became just dead silent. It's fascinating how much information the sounds (or lack thereof) in nature can provide. Jim Corbett, an English hunter born in India, would use what he referred to as "our jungle folk" to great effect, especially when hunting man-eaters in India. (highly recommend his books to anyone interested in hunting man-eaters, his writing is spectacular) Having been born and raised in the jungles of India, he knew it as well as the back of his hand. And he could determine by the sounds of the jungle folk alone: - what type of predator it was - what direction the predator was - whether the predator was moving or standing still - how far away the predator was (this one he was exceptionally good at reading, being able to determine the rough distance accurate down to a few dozen yards) It is certainly a very useful skill to have for anyone who spends a significant amount of time in nature, especially in areas prone to predation.

There is a scene in the short spoof 'The Blair Thumb' where they are running from something and one of them says something like "we should hide in the tent" to which the other character responds with probably the most based response ever. *sarcastically* "Yeah, because nothing can penetrate THE NYLON!!" 😆

@tmotus84 😆 coyotes tend to avoid humans. Raccoons will moist likely be used to camping humans and they CAN open things like ice chests or really any unlocked "door" type items (they have lil jazz hands). How to deal with the Bat: - *Echolocation Trickery:* Bats use echolocation to “see” in the dark. Since they are unable to actually see in the dark. This would track you if you moved. If you remain still, the Bat won’t detect any moving creatures. - *I See You Now:* You kept having a flashlight on, or were near a campfire. Bats can see, if things are well lit. Keeping your flashlight off and remaining still was the correct way to avoid dying.
@maximillian1109
@maximillian1109 Жыл бұрын
...bats can see very well in the dark actually. Echolocation is just way more effective for tracking small zoomy bugs while flying. They use their eyes to not fly into trees and shit. They are also scared of light. It is like...a phobia for them. They cant see well in bright areas, as their eyes are too sensitive. If anything, light scares them away. So I hope you were talking about this monster bat, and not real bats...

I really like how the bat walks on only their wings. Its a really neat choise, and makes for a uniqe design! It also helps in making the bat...less natural? Because like...this thing should not exist. Why is a bat walking around on the ground, roaring? So making it so that the anatomy dont make complete sense...its rather brilliant!! Well done!! Guns Also maybe two roars means he hits you The first one gets your location The second is to elevate your current fear and potentially paralyze you While, you know, also serving as a charging roar Also 22:10 gave me the impression of a kitten slowly making its way towards you, failing to contain it's excitement when it's close and jumping. That’s something I kind of hate about these games though. So many of them never explain how to actually get away from the creature. It’s frustrating having to do process of elimination only to find out once you’ve died a dozen times trying and failing to figure out how to survive an attack. There have legit been more than a few games on this channel where the only reason they got through the game was because of the number of players, not their number of resources or quality of strategy.

@@AdvanceWarrior adding some short tutorial screens explaining the mechanics on a new game would be enough for a game like this. If it had an actual intro cutscene then it’d be best to have an intro narration saying something like “The survivor said that the monster ran away when his camera flashed, so we know the beast hates bright light. You should be safe until sundown, so make sure you identify as many of the missing persons as possible before then. Keep an eye on your spare batteries, too. If you stay out when the sun goes down you’re going to need your flashlight at full power to see anything. You have some supplies - rations, water, and firestarting materials. If you run out or find yourself injured, look for any raised boxes on the side of the trail. The rangers make sure they’re stocked up for anyone who gets stranded. Be careful, and good luck.”

I thought this too. When hunting and/or studying wild animals at night, it is common to use red or green lights as it 1) doesn't ruin your nightvision as much, and 2) the animals do not react to it as something scary. Either because they can’t see it, or because it's not as invasive as white light. Depends on the animal.

I think that simplifies it too much. Most big animals causes nature to quiet down until they get used to it. Like if a moose strolls into a clearing to chew on some sticks, at first most animals will quiet down because...there is a massive new guy around! Then, if it's just a chill moose eating a bush, nature will slowly go back to normal, though smaller animals might stay away just...because. But if a small fox trotts by, their direct pray will most likely quiet down because they know what a fox is, but why would a bird in a tall tree care about a fox? Or a moose? Or a wendigo? So saying that everything goes quest around predators is...not really true? I mean, why wouldn't nature resume around a bear happily eating berries? One also has to remember that a predator is only hunting when they are hunting. They are not murderers or always on the prowl. They chill, they play, they explore... Wolves are even known for making friends with ravens. Pray and predator can and will share spaces when needed.

@@maximillian1109 I am from rural Mississippi, and any time there has been any predator around me it has gone completely silent, also the same happens with deer. What is your source for this information, besides "trust me bro"?

The flairs are red and bats can't see the color red! I doubt that the developers thought about that, but if they did, that's neat.

It's affected by the camera flash because it's bright and sudden. The campfire doesn't affect it because although it's a bright light, it's always showing unlike the quick burst of light from the camera.

Bats (at least the ones around here) strongly dislike light due to how sensitive their eyes are. That's why you only see them at dawn and dusk. It makes sense that the bat monster would be disoriented by the camera light.
