Hunting Child Predators | My Life Online

Since the show, “To Catch a Predator” went off the air, a corner of KZbin has taken up the mantle: posing as underage kids online, waiting for older men to send sexually explicit messages and then filming a confrontation with the men in public. The Dads Against Predators duo has been making this content for years but is particularly controversial because law enforcement has publicly denounced them, telling them to leave this work to the professionals.
In this episode of My Life Online, we shine a light on the grey area this content inhabits. Are these vigilante KZbin creators helping expose predators or making it more difficult for law enforcement to do their jobs? Are they potentially saving lives or just risking their own?

Theres 2 main differences though. Firstly there would be regulation or some kind of oversight on how he does his job. Secondly he would be on a salary so would be paid regardless of whether he solves any cases. If these guys don't get views they don't get paid. By monetising vigilantes you are encouraging them to make more and more content and even fabricate content if there isn't any.

My dad ruined me and three of my step sisters lives with being a child molester he was mentally physically emotionally sexually abusive finally one of the youngest step sisters informed her father so the rest of us were contacted my father took the easy way out and hung himself. I dealt with so much for ten plus years after his death. I salute you for the work your doing. Sadly education needs to be spreaded to young mothers with kids because my dad always dated women with young young kids so he could do what he was doing. After his death i found out that his dad my grandpa had sold all nine of my aunts and uncles when they were younger for sex to the local police. My grandfather also was sexually and physically abusive. Out of the nine kids him and my grandma had two females died before they were a year old. Rumor has it that my grandpa murdered them. In the 40s and 50s it was easy to pass it off as crib death. One of my aunts informed me of this. This same aunt told me that my dad would rape here still to the day this was when i was 18 and before he died. Its also a fact my dad and his brothers still had sex with one another even into adult hood. Demons are real people.

They may say theyre tipping off the predators and destroying investigations, thats debatable. I strongly agree with these catchers though that something needs to get done. If they can get them to "an hero" that's one less predator off the streets atleast. If they can gather their information without tipping them off and handle to law enforcement and they bust them, that helps also.

I have a simple solution for the detective's concern: actually arrest predators when handed the loads of evidence these catchers procure. He’s an excellent paw-paw to my son. He doesn’t talk about his work much but he could be sitting at home drawing a pension. Instead he’s pushing 70 and still working to help people. I love the push to change the term from "pedophile" to "minor attracted persons." This is disgusting, it minimalizes the harm to the victims. The problem with pedophiles, even if they don't physically touch a child, is they seek materials to engage in their fantasies. There wouldn't be a market for CP if pedophiles didn't exist. While I understand that pedophilia is a mental illness, it's one that has nearly no chance of overcoming, and those who are released back into society always reoffend in one form or another (seeking out children or CP).

Most of the states in the US don’t require that the person posing as a child be law enforcement. DAP, and many other pred catchers have gotten arrests and convictions doing this in other states. I’ve seen some of the videos from the UK, and it looks like over there you can even make a citizens arrest, which is a HUGE liability here, but makes things a lot easier on the catching side. If the ICAC guy was concerned with stopping this problem, and not worried about his job or politics, he’d have come on camera and called for the laws in Ohio to be changed so they can arrest the guys DAP exposes.

The high school I went to in Ohio had a new vice principal my senior year. Then a few years after I graduated, the FBI busted him by pretending to be a father pimping out their 8 year old girl. The transcript they released of the conversations between the guy and the FBI agent (while they were undercover) was horrifying. I'm glad he was caught, but he had been with the school district for 7 years by that point. And this wasn't the first time an employee of the district was convicted as a predator either. I'm relieved that the former vice principal was caught and is serving 12 years in prison, but all of this is to say that predators are everywhere. Including places you're assured that your children will be safe in. For the FBI agent in this video to say they don't want or need the help, when it took them years to bust a predator that worked for a community of hundreds of minors, is insane.

@@traphousezombie8003 bruh, almost every police department in America has a unit doing literally the same thing these guys are doing, the only difference is they actually remove them from society instead of merely shaming them in public and calling it a day. The FBI headquarters in DC even has some type of artificial intelligence that alerts them whenever a weirdo posts a sexual image of a child online. Stop acting like law enforcement isn't doing anything about it at all.

When Josh’s Grandma said “he automatically goes to heaven”, and was tearing up, it killed me. I’d give anything from a warm hug from Grandma again. Much Respect to Dap. Been watching you guys from the start. Good people don’t need laws to tell them how to act, bad people find ways around laws and frankly don’t care. Unfortunately not everyone has faith in our broken “Justice system”and this clown cop was a perfect example why.

Part of the actual task forces excuse is that the predator sometimes keeps wanting more and more proof before meeting up. So how exactly can DAP sometimes talk to these guys for 15 minutes and be on their way to a meet up at the mall? Sometimes it takes DAP weeks to get someone comfortable for the meet up. Is the task force designated to do this “too busy” or are they just too stupid?

Incredibly well said!!! Men that speak out against their abusers are some of the bravest, most manly men on this entire planet. They deserve all of the love and praise, it takes such a phenomenally strong man to speak out against abuse of any kind, especially abuse they’ve had to endure firsthand. I have so much endless love in my heart for those men and I need them to know that when they come forward they are doing everyone, including themselves, so much good, such an amazing service and act of heroism. They help save so many other boys/men from having to endure the same kind of pain from said abuser. I stand with them all!!!
