Over torquing the nuts with an airgun is the problem. I'd replace the whole lot and to torque spec.

Just had your tires rotated and you have broken lug nuts? It’s the tire guy’s air gun, that’s how. If they ain’t using a torque wrench and tightening those lugs by hand, this is what happens.

That right there is lack of a torque wrench on a lug nut is what that is. Cold stretched lug nuts break when put through that rough road abuse.

No its too much torque from either an overzealous noob with a 3/4 drive and a statement to make or a lazy slob that just gives er 5 seconds of ugga dugga air impact and calls it spec'd. You see it all the time being a vehicle tech, they come in all the time to dealer, if they arent broke they are so stretched out you cant even thread a new lug on once you break the old one loose.
