I grew up watching Gordon Eastman films, rented them from local sporting goods store. With all the advancements in technology and gear that we now have it makes those films even more impressive.

We’ve been reflecting on how the progression of film and video since Gordon’s time. He would have been amazed at how light the gear can be now, but hauling those heavy film cameras sure made him tough!

Gordon Eastman had one of the most natural narrator voices I ever heard. He could sure tell a story in a way that was simple and honest. There is no one that I know of in the hunting media world that has matched him in my opinion. I have all his old VHS and DVDs and watch them often.

Gordon’s films had a huge impact on my life also. I remember his huge colorful poster on a power pole in Palmer AK as a kid, which was advertising this film. My dad and I went to it in the school auditorium. I couldn’t get enough of it. Gordon sat there narrating it.

Thanks for watching the film nmelkhunter1. We had a great time putting this one together. I believe Gordon and his buddies were all shooting Winchester pre-64s. Gordon was actually a gunsmith by trade and worked underneath Al Beason in the Spokane, WA area. Al was Jack O'Conner's gunsmith and that is how Gordon got to know Jack. They may have been 7MM mags. I think Danny was a Weatherby man however so his gun was probably different. Maybe a 7mm WBY Mag. That's about all I know about the guns at this point. I hope this helps. Good luck this fall. -G
