Hunting Fishing Loving Everyday: Living the Song - Moose Hunting, Fishing Rainbow Trout and Ling Cod

Living the Song - hunting fishing loving everyday! The coveted hunting and fishing trip, moose hunting, fishing rainbow trout and ling cod (burbot). This is a late season expedition that will likely test our character a bit. I'm just not sure why more people aren't on the lake?
Rainbow trout are awesome to catch and eat but there is something magical about setting a night line for Burbot (also known as freshwater ling cod). These things are tasty as they are ugly and can add up to a winters worth of fish and chips pretty fast.
If you love hunting fishing loving everyday and also generally being outside and you don't care too much about the weather or run-on sentences.... I feel the same. If you'd subscribe it would make my day even fishier!

These video really make me homesick for My old property in SK :( I miss having 170 acres and a river to fish in berries to gather the few wandering bears and red wolves moose trying to climb in the boat, man I miss it btw if you get a good grain fed bear make some chili OMG to die for! when you live off the land kids are tougher than these city kids who grumble over having to stop gaming to take the trash out.. Tough kids who know how to survive off the land is a parents most amazing gift they can give to their kids wish more parents did this. way to go guys in love with your channel and your family!

Loving these videos. Your girls are an inspiration. All of you :) Now.. about that filthy motor; surely electric is the way forward on boats? Totally quiet, just whisper along in peace, always got fuel - wind, solar. Totally reliable even when they've been submerged all night - just empty it out, if it has got wet at all. Did I say no noise? and no oil in the water! Nothing to stop you keeping a little petrol trolling motor as a backup, but you'll never need it.

I remember one of the first times my dad let my brothers and I take his skiff overnight camping. ( Summer of ‘93) We did the same trick you did. Pulled the boat up high enough that the stern couldn’t rise and fall with the waves so during the night the waves kept breaking over the stern and filling the boat. We woke up to a completely flooded boat and wet engine. We were along way from home and it freaked us out pretty bad (I was the oldest by a couple years and was only 12). We pulled together literally and figuratively and got it sorted out. It was a great experience. We also use our boat to hunt. It seems like the animals get used to the sound of boats and tend to ignore them. We just cruise around fishing until we spot something then sneak around a corner and drop someone on shore to make the stalk. The people in the boat can usually see what is going on better than the hunter and can radio info.

Thanks Jesse! Sounds like you guys had a similar situation as we did, although the waves didn't come over our boats. It literally snowed and rained soooo much that it filled the boat until it sunk. It was a bummer, but we were pretty happy that the motors were fixable! All the best!

Papa was a rolling fish out of his net and not lifting it fast enough, but you redeemed yourself with proper netting on the next ones. Snow melts fast around paw and hand makes for a bigger print very quickly. Ended up the print was the same size as the actual hand is not counting the expanding melt of both. A family that works together, plays together, STAYS TOGETHER!! Strong arms on that young man cranking the motor. He's a keeper for sure lol. Wow nice way to filet a fish,, much easier that way. WTG.

I used to have a seagoing sailboat and everybody ELSE had a 5 HP outboard on their transom. Not me. I had an electric trollong motor. Why? So I never had to prove my manhood, yanking for hours on an outboard that refuses to start. I had a Honda generator stowed below decks. It ALWAYS started first pull and besides, sailing and Jiffy--Pop popcorn just kinda go hand in hand, but you gotta have a microwave and for THAT you gotta have electricity . . . Oh, oh . . . I did, I had gobs of electricity. 😊

OK, I'm just catching up on your family and adventures for the first time today but I must ask, How can you catch trout and Lingcod from freshwater?? I live in the mountains outside of Yosemite and have lakes all over but still have to make a 4-hour drive to the pacific ocean to catch a Lingcod. I know things are different in Canada but here in the states cod are a saltwater fish and trout are a freshwater fish. I can't help but think you have made it impossible for most the young men in the world to ever date your girls. Probably a good thing, just something I have noticed.
