I have built a couple pairs with mark audio drivers and very pleased with the results. The break-in protocol cannot be skipped. Read and follow the instructions. They are absolutely crunchy out of the box, you will think they are broken, but rest assured they are not. The alpaire series are quite reasonably priced, BTW.

Thank you James! :) Yes, they look very promising, I will look at one of the Alpaires in one of the upcoming videos. Very affordable and yet very good. :)

It would be fun if you could record them and post.. did you keep the box volume? What port diameter and length did you decide on?

Hello, the price of the Mark Audio drivers is for a matched pair, so right in line with the top offerings from Fostex. Great video series! Dan

Thanks Dan! That's a big difference, a pretty good deal ; ). 👍👍✨✨

Thanks for the informative video! I have long been looking for an alternative driver to build the Le Petite, since the Fostex FE 103 Sigma is no longer available. I am already very excited to see the result of the hunt ...

I think it will be more of a presentation of different styles, and I am trying to give information of firstly whether the driver is a good choice, and then what sort of preferences / systems will it work with... Yet, at the end hopefully I will make a top 3 recommendation to make it easier ; ).

I can confirm: the MAOP7.2 and your la Gorda design are a very nice match. Currently I run one speaker cabinet with felt, the second without. So far it is hard to tell if I prefer one setup over the other. Thanks for your guidance, Janos

What about preowned drivers

Excellent question! Yes, I do recommend to use second hand drivers. Just make sure the surround is in good shape, if not then the driver needs to be re-coned.

Janos. How’s about Open Baffle? This has been a very long run on different speaker types so they deserve a comment don’t you think? There does seem to be a lot of interest in them 😊 and a lot of conjecture! Ps I think we were just expecting you to say something about moving your Vought Pipes to the main system😁 Btw my daughter has Keff Celeste speakers c 1960’s with drivers that look like your Zenith’s.

Hi Eddie, OBs deserve an entire series, and they will get one (at least one ; ). For now I'm far from getting done with Le Petit. As there is interest from people who already started the project, I want to give as much advice as possible ; ).

Yeah I know I’m being selfish haha just that the more I looked into them the more confusing it became, like dimensions shape which drivers will/won’t work etc. those Le Petites are cool! I would build them if I had the space tools talent (then again I’ve never met a speaker I didn’t like 😁) but my work bench is still covered in post flood things and my first project, given the state of world politics should be a usable Tesla Coil, something that will give me a couple hrs of music each day! What about Florida! It’s mad weather this year Janos but I’m not convinced it’s climate change, well not naturally occurring anyway. Here now we head into Bush fire season so what didn’t drown might just burn😱 Such is Life.

I’d like to second the idea of open baffle. Particularly the size/shape of the baffle. Current offerings are all over the map.

Aluminium drivers are very different then paper cone drivers. In my perspective nothing sounds a good as a well made paper cone driver.
