Hunting For Delicious Morels - Ending the Season With a BANG!

My girlfriend and I went out to a local forested area to hunt for morel mushrooms, and boy did we find them! We had hunted at this spot late in April of 2023, but we only found three morels, and they were somewhat dried up. This year we decided to hit the spot earlier, and this strategy paid off in record-breaking fashion! The first hunt of the year was great, but the second hunt was much better than we expected, with many more and much bigger morels! The third hunt was after a hard rain the week before, and that brought up a LOT of fresh morels for the picking! The fourth hunt, which is this video, was toward the end of the season. We didn't know what to expect, and it went MUCH better than we thought! There were some monsters out there in the woods waiting to be picked! This was our last hunt for the season, and it was a great and memorable one!

@ChangeIsGoodCoinHunts Just finished your video, great stuff man. I live in southern Oregon about 50 miles off the coast roughly. We pick mostly in the fall, my wife and I, as well as my daughter to sometimes. We use alot of channels, but we pick most anything decent if we find it. Prob a dozen different mushrooms we will search for at any given time. Murrels around here can grow all the w Y through to mid June if ya know where to go and the elevation and temp is right. Just a few years ago we were picking them beggining of June at about 3800 ft. If yz Don tt mind me asking, whereabouts your located? You in the NorthWest?

@@HillbillyStockPicks I'm actually in northwest Arkansas, way to the southeast of you. Our season usually begins around late March, depending on the temperature. February was unusually warm this year, so the season started a week or two earlier than usual. I used to hunt for morels occasionally as a kid, but I didn't really try and do a serious hunt until last year. We only found three morels last year at the same place as this video was recorded, but it was in late April after the season had ended. We decided to get a head start on them this year, and we ended up taking home over 535 morels in total over four separate hunts. Today's hunt was mainly just finding ones we missed during the last trip, as we didn't see many fresh ones that had come up during he past week. I hope your season goes as well (if not better) as ours did this year.

@ChangeIsGoodCoinHunts oh ok, yeah your farrr from me. 😄 well that's good info though, the picking and timing for your area. Our season can start in Febuary here and run through June, but you gotta chase em higher as the weather warms. They love old burned Forrest areas and seem to love popping up after fresh snow Dustin's that melt off within a day or two. In all honesty haven't been out yet, but that's changing prob this coming weekend lol. Thanks again man.

Ha! You know how it is! You've got to protect your spots! We did show a little bit of it, but if you're curious what sort of trees we were hunting around, they were mainly smooth maples. Almost every single one of them had morels around them. Thank you for the comment!
