@ComicTom101 This is lengthy and likely confusing but bear with me: I'm a 25+ year graphic designer that worked in a print shop for 10 years, and this is my best *theory* at the Spawn 1 error issue: When you print a book, you don't print one copy at a time, but rather "2-up" or even "4-up" depending on the size of the book's page and the size of the press. There's a possibility that the book printed 4-up with two covers and two back covers printed at once, then the paper is flipped (either work-and-turn or work-and-tumble if you're using print lingo) and ran again, thus printing the opposite sides of the prints with the front and back again (making a complete front and back cover). My guess is that the printing plates on the one side had the smudge, but ran side-by-side with the non-error book, printing simultaneously. I don't know how many were printed before McFarlane change the printing plates, but it makes sense that they would be bound/packaged with every other book having an error, because as the books go through bindery, the printed pages would both be bound (aka stapled, saddle stitched, etc) in basically the reverse order of how they were printed, with that order being one error book, followed by one non-error book, repeat. My expanded theory would be that McFarlane would have had to notice the error toward the end of the run to really come out with a roughly 50/50 split. For example, if he noticed the error halfway through the run, then the error book would be about 25% of books if the book ran 4-up. Obviously, I don't know how the book ran or what type of press it ran on, so that's just an example/theory. Considering the print run of that book though...in either case the error book isn't rare. 😜

Hey Tom/Guru :) Pretty awesome vid of a lot of books there! This might sound like a big ordeal/suggestion, but for the lower boxes, you should get some cheap pallets, and stack the first box onto a pallet with plyboard. Sitting comic boxes directly onto the concrete floor, you will get a lot of cold creep through the bottom of the cardboard which is not good for your books, creating an insulation gap is good ! :D Greetings from Scotland. @4:20 The books would have been coming down the print 2 side by side then get pushed together (overlapping each other) into one pile at the very end of the rollers so it would be a perfect 50/50 split if only one of the two print sides had the problem.

A I really enjoy fellow comic collectors and resellers as I own my own company . I’ve actually not been selling major keys lately because of the price drop . I’ll hold out till it rebounds . I’ve sold a ton of non keys of whole sets . Good luck guys really enjoyed the video

I have a large collection of Keys only, every book was for investment over the years as i had no interest in any characters except for Batman. Capitalist i guess. I am wondering what you all think what would possibly make comic books go up again? I think our only hope is another stimulus fueled event.

Not anytime soon!..Its was the perfect storm...The stimulus was a result of corona and everyone being home. When will it happen again that the whole WORLD was on Ebay at the same time getting "free" money. Economies may rise again and fuel comics but that will stave off goverments giving "free" money again and less likely have everyone home and scouring the bay for deals. Just like the blip, forget the comic boom ever happened bcwere back to prepandemic prices and would take a micacle to be even close...The speculators left for greener pastures. As of this video, I can smell the few keys I have devalue greatly as more of these high grade keys will flood the market.

spawn 1 might be a key, but with a 1,000,000 print run, most of them in ultra high grade. there are how many collectors? 100,000? that's 10 copies per collector. they should never sell for more that cover price. I don't understand any of the pricing for 90's keys....nm 98, spidey 1, xforce, any of he early image books ....probably close to enough for every collector to have a copy above 9.4. wish I owned the truly rare high grade books from the 70's and prior. truly when the words "key" and "rare" and "valuable" have validity when used together.

from 1990 to present there have been probably 30 big keys that came come out of that era. modern books are useless. golden silver and bronze are the way to go. high grade like mine

I know he and who ever else bought all that but I don't like how he is handling them if there is no value, but if he sells them off to others he needs to respect them a lot better then just reprints or if they have no value just because they are from 2020 - 2022. to others they have value. I treat a $3.00 comic like it's worth a thousand because one day it just might be worth that much and need to keep it in a good condition.
