Todd found this rare 1956 FLH in Dayton Ohio. It is 100% original paint and in exceptional condition. for detailed pix go here www.flickr.com/... For anyone who thinks this front fender light is not "Panhead" they should look in a factory Panhead HD accessory catalog. Here is a link www.flickr.com/... you will notice HD says it is a fender light. That means you can put it on ANY HD on the front fender. This particular catalog was 1955.

Looks absolutely stunning! A lot of those “tin” accessories got dented easy because they are soft thin metal like the cheese grater and front fender tip, but these are gorgeous mint shape! Love everything on it, the only thing I would change out of personal preference is the fishtail end caps to Louie “S” pipe ends as an accessory. 😊👍💙💜💗❤️💚

My 55 had the same front fender light, helper springs, center stand and heat shield. It also had an enclosed chain guard , fact. available. Rarely seen. Police models were equipped w/rectangular side mount oil tanks. That front bumper is rare.

WOOOW! What a '56 H-D FLH!! That's the nicest original everything that I've ever seen. Watch out for the flash-mobs wherever parked. Quite a find up yonder in Dayton.

My first Harley was a 1956 Panhead I bought fully restored in 1980, I paid $1,800 for it --- Times have sure fucking changed...

+Biker Tramp in the 80's you couldn't give a pan away damn near , fuckers went yuppie & lost patience , everybody needed that magic go button lol . My 55 pan sleeps most yrs , now that I'm older I've grown to appreciate those magic go button bikes , left knee is completely shot & right knee has 3 to 4 kicks before it blows out .
@dquillen1

Michael Ledford Hey, I'm with you on the magic go button, I don't have a kicker anymore either... I was just referring to the prices...

Biker Tramp oh I know , I miss those prices too , back then you could score actual barn & garage found pans & knuckles for a grand , now with a " chopper " shop in every town their all turned into goofy west coast chopper looking messes lol . I wouldn't ride one of those huge real wheel bikes if they offered to pay me ;)

Michael Ledford --- Yeah, people today are just stupid, hell I know idiots that will pay $5,000 for a goddamned front wheel... And then they hardly ride the fucker, cause they don't want to get it dirty...

this bike recalls my first experience with the "clutch booster". I found an old HD manual at the shop I was working at, and fter an hour or two trying to set up the clutch booster via the manual I was stumped. I performed the procedure via the manual....didn't work. Later the owner of shop (who knew something I didn't) asked why I wasn't done. I explained to him, that I'd done it via the manual's steps. That's when he grinned real big and laughed. He told me to start with the last procedure and work up to the first. Sure enough, it worked. First Time ! Seems HD didn't always share the info in the correct order, in the old manuals...possibly on purpose so you'd bring it the shop. have you ever had a similar experience with theold HD manuals?

Panhead Ron, your forgetting two things. #1, this is an original paint machine. #2 Bikes, then, like today, were ridden machines. They did not pull out a Palmer's book to see what was correct or not. Accessory items are just that, something someone saw in a catalog or on a dealer shelf and said "put that on" or bought it and put it on themselves. As example, long stem "Knucklehead" spot lights were available into the mid 1960's as an accessory.

At the time, people did not think "these are Knuckle or Panhead" , people thought, I like those and put them on. This is why you can find original paint bikes with earlier or later items. People rode them and put on what they liked. They were not thinking about AMCA judging in 50 plus years. IMHO, shared by others, the AMCA's ridged stance on how it had to be based on a few machines has done more to destroy the actual history then preserve it.

+Cameo Guy sorry about the extremely late reply. Often youtube does not notify me of comments and there are over 1500 videos on my channel. It would help greatly if you spent some money on accessory catalogs from HD from the era and parts books. Every one of your corrections, while well intended, are simply not correct.

I don't like the front fender lamp. It's a Knucklehead version. The red Pilot lamp is for directionals not high-low beam. Paint the outer primary cover black, along with the tool box. In 56 the seat rail was a single tube rail. Black kickarm & Parkerized bolts instead of chrome.Other than that she looks good!

Don't forget, the AMCA was also sanctioning the chroming of originally nickled parts in the active collecting and restoring of original paint machines to "AMCA standards" back in the 1960's. While the club has it's functions, it would serve us all better to understand that the people that built these bikes new did not pull out a Palmer's book either. If a part was out of stock, they did not stop the assembly line, they used what was on hand. Might of been last years part, or the new part not out
