The species is the same (Capra hircus) whether is a Mallorca boc, a domestic goat or a "hybrid" (as it is the same species we cannot really say it is hybridization). The Balearean goat of Mallorca are considered a subspecies (race) of the domestic goat. So the management you are doing is to preserve the phenotypic characteristics of a race variety in a feral introduced domestic animal indeed.

Thank you for sharing this great experience and for your efforts in helping to control the hybridization. In the UK, I understand they are having a similar problem with reds and sika. Reds are native. To save the reds, all the sika and hybrids would need to be removed. Sad that the meat can't be at least shared. Was the decision not to permit sharing based on actual evidence of a problem?
