Hunting Massive Gators In South Florida | This Is What Happened

Todays video is something that I have been wanting to do since I was about 15 years old and I finally got the chance to make it happen. I took a trip down to Florida for my first ever gator hunt on Okeechobee lake/river system. I had my good friend Kevin from hidden heights farm with me. This is making a lot of you mad that I would do this but I shouldn't have to apologize for something that I want to do that is perfectly legal and also helps the ecosystem in south Florida.

I live in Florida. We have hunting schedules for gators, Bear, Pythons etc. if we didn’t they would be at our back doors. Many people have died from gator attacks.

When l was college aged l hated the idea of hunting bunnies and deer, as well as birds. Now that l am older and wiser, I appreciate those who hunt predators, especially when they are overpopulated. Even overpopulated deer and rabbits need to be thinned out sometimes. So thanks, alligator hunters.

Hi Dutch, I’m a Florida girl, born and raised in SW Florida in the Everglades. The alligators are running rampant in Florida. When you drive the Tamiami Trail from Naples to Miami, you’ll see so many gators sunning themselves on the canal banks you can’t count them. My great aunt lived in Copeland her whole life and she was 92 years old she went to get her mail. As she was going back to her house, a 12 foot gator jumped out of the water and bit her leg and she grabbed a tree limb. A cousin was driving by and stopped his truck and shot the gator. She was taken by helicopters to the hospital and ended up losing her leg. The story went viral. Kissimmee River is in North Florida and I have to compliment you on pronouncing it right. I love alligator meat!

As an Aunt who's little nephew almost got taken by a gaiter. I say THANK YOU! Unfortunately it did it get the dog. It had dug under the fence. My brother put in an 8 foot Chain Link fence, buring it 4 feet in the ground. Then put his house up for sale and moved. He could not leave the house without re-doing the fence. Nephew was 4 in a fenced in yard with the dog.

I grew up on the East side of Lake Okeechobee. You should see the gators during mating season. You can hardly get down the canals and rivers from hit them.

My buddy and I used to hunt gators driving around and on top of the Levy and canals in 8000 acre orange Grove in S. Florida. He got 180 tags a year, and I would go help him. We both used .357 magnum rifles. He shot a 10 footer and we drug it up out of the canal to measure and tag it...but woke up while we were measuring, he was at the head and was riding it while yelling Get the gun😂 I I grabbed the lever action and racked in a new round and said lean back, stuck barrel to his head and fired...his ride wad over😂😅 We were paid by the foot, but we usually didn't go over 10' unless requested by land owner. Had to be5' or over, two 6' make twelve and those huge ones require a tractor. Our biggest was 12'7" by request.I have lots of funny stories about gator hunting 😂

The Florida based show was called 'Swamp Brothers' (not swamp people, thats Louisiana) and featured Robert Keszy who now has a youtube channel called 'Get Swamped ' which im a big fan of, he has large gator marshes, also traps nuisance alligators in his area amongst other things. Just a part of the fun being in South Florida. Hard Rain. Both times I have spent time in Orlando we would have daily rains between 1600-1700 hours.
