@@arnifishing2063 thank 👍 it’s the North West Highlands. Not at the moment, it’s well managed so it doesn’t get over fished. The locals get to fish if they are responsible.

Great catch! Pike is a wonderfull fish. Hope Scotland had them more as in some of the other countries. Recently was fishing in Ukraine, got few. It's also very tasty - no disrespect for the other fisher men who catch an release of corse. Following for more videos.

This video is a bit misleading for any beginner to the sport. Promoting spinning rods for deadbaiting, which are inadequate for the job. Using a trout net that a low double cant even fit in properly. You're bite indication is bad. You should have some sort of visual drop off indicator that can register drop backs.

2 banksticks per rod, a bite alarm at the front and a swinger arm at the back will give you good indication, have your rods lower though as pointing them upwards they'll catch the wind, i personally never use a net as i once did and as i was netting a big mid double a flying treble caught onto the net and the fish kicked and was gone! you cant beat arriving at the loch for first light getting your two rods set up, baits out, unhooking mat and tools laid out, brolly up and a big mug of tea and a bacon roll as you sit back in your chair waiting for that first beep beep beep! heaven!!

@@johngraham5996 thanks for the tips, on this occasion I hadn’t prepared for a days pike fishing and had decided to make do with what I had with me. Interesting, so many preferences between net, may or both. I’m a fan of keeping fish in a net in water as I fish the remote highland often and usually keep moving. Hence the preference for a net over mat. 🎣
