I was hunting cow elk this year in NM. There were SO MANY TIMES when we could have caught one. One of the times was when were tracking 4 cow elk and we were so close i could smell them!.

Hey Randy I love your Show and your approach. I've long had the thought of hunting in my head but here in Germany its neither very common/socially accepted nor easily accessible (no public land hunting & expensive licenses). Wachting your show has motivated me to reach out and find a hunter to tag along. So I'l be going on my first hunt probably this may :)

Randy, great video. ....luv em, great job, pro! Right from the start I was pulled in to watch. Like you, I think hard to get places is where the best animals are located and the best hunts; proof in the puddin, hard hunts great rewards eh? Best meat usually in the younger/smaller game imo. I rarely shoot for the big antlers unless the season is close to its end anyway.....cheers 2 you and crew

you guys certainly have more elk in the states then we do in B.C. but B.C. is 94% public land easy to find areas to hunt

How do you scout more wooded areas? or do you prefer to move to more open areas that are better for glassing?

Post-rut and Late Season elk is a glassing game. At other times of the year I will be in areas that might have more cover.

I just read in rmef magazine that a nonresident can get a cow tag in wyoming almost every year. I'm already applying for points in other western states maybe wyoming will be a good addition.

The 2016 hunter stats just came out for Colorado. Looking at both numbers and success rate and they drop off bad for 3rd season. Why? We are going this fall and it looks like we will have to go 3rd, stats are tough.

It was ridiculously warm in November last year. I had a tag for 3rd season and felt very lucky to fill that tag. Good luck.

We have a policy that we don't list our hunting units, as it would cause a lot of applications to go to that units, which would be unfair to those who are applying there. I hope you understand why we do it that way. Good luck to you.
