That place looks like fun to ride. But wow its unforgiving. I couldnt imagine even trying it in the summer, theres no shade anywhere. I was going to bring my bike but the few trails I found info on looked more like downhill rides that were best with a shuttle.

The beginning of this ride is part of a 59 mile IMBA Epic. There are a lot of trails in the State Park. Check my link to MTB Project. Some good trails at the Lajitas Airport, too. And yeah, even at 70ish degrees that day, that sun was beating down and wearing us out! Definitely not a place to ride in the summer! Sunday morning it was around 50 degrees and that was quite comfortable in shorts and short sleeves. Winter is definitely the time to go!

This is great stuff man, so glad I found your channel. My wife and I are planning to get out and explore a lot more now that our last child has just graduated High school and your videos are a great resource! So many of the places you are highlighting are on our shortlist since they're relatively close to the DFW area!! PERFECT!!! Cheers...

@@huntstyle I live in the Dallas, TX area so it's nice to see many of the trails around here in your videos. :) You ever been to Squabble Creek? It's a pretty easy trail and only 4 miles long, but it's nearby and I like it a lot.

As I recall, it was marked fairly well, but we did have to check Trailforks a couple times to be sure we were going the right way. You likely won't have a signal out there, but if you download Texas trails ahead of time, GPS on Trailforks should still work.

Huntstyle - I am spending WAY too much time researching a new top-o-line mnt. bike. Im spec'ing out everything and studying geometry charts ad nauseam. I'm down to a Yeti 4.5C or YT Jeffsy - but scared to spend so much on Jeffsy having nvr ridden one. I'm actually from Flower Mound TX but live in Houston and ride all over Texas and Arkansas. Can you give any advice here or provide any confidence in the Jeffsy? I'm scared it's too 'enduro/trail' for most Texas single track like Reveille Peak, Flat Rock Ranch, North Shore, Rocky Hill Ranch, and everything else in and around Austin/DFW area. Is this truly an all-round bike? Am I going to get it and then be stalling out on up-hill climbs (i.e. have you found HTA too slack for climbing efficiency?) Would you recommend this bike to me? Thank so much and enjoy your videos!
@huntstyle6 жыл бұрын
I came from a Specialized Camber and feel that the Jeffsy actually climbs BETTER than the Camber! You won't have any trouble climbing. It's a great bike for all of those trails, and will still be quite capable when traveling out of state. I hadn't ridden one either when I ordered mine, and I have 0 regrets! Cheers!

Okay I'll just stick to hiking when I go out to BBNP. These "trails" look so boring lolol. Not at all trying to be rude or anything its just dang it. Was hoping for so, so much more with all that terrain but I get it, most of it is protected and kept purposely untouched for the Chihuhuan Desert's ecosystem or however you spell it.
@huntstyle3 жыл бұрын
I didn't think they were boring at the time, but now that I live in Idaho and ride more big mountain stuff, I might find them boring if I go back, lol! The downhills there weren't very steep.
