Wasted my whole life playing guitar and piano when this is what I should have been doing all along, better late than never ordered my first gurdy at 63 years old, feel like a kid at Christmas. A lot of fabulous gurdy players out there but Andrey just blows me away, he's a musical genius.

Hurdy gurdy is basically, "Do you want a violin that sounds good.....and is also capable of providing the low end notes while playing melody and is also capable of being the percussion in a sense and is also easier to play than all of those instruments on their own?"

@@Krabadaque What is a drone note?
@Krabadaque
@Krabadaque 5 жыл бұрын
@EgE @Zarion 11 (From Wikipedia): In music, a drone is a harmonic or monophonic effect or accompaniment where a note or chord is continuously sounded throughout most or all of a piece. The word drone is also any part of a musical instrument that is used to produce such an effect, as is the archaic term burden (bourdon or burdon)such as a "drone [pipe] of a bagpipe",the pedal point in an organ, or the lowest course of a lute.

@@BlackMithrandir13 Hurdy Gurdy, aka Vielle à Roue originates supposedly from 1000 AD Spain and is claimed to have been developed in the northern catholic monasteries of the region. First appearances in christian countries like England, Poland, Hungary and Belarus are from the 12th century. Finnish scholars seem to be quite sure of the origin, while rest of the world only seem to place it somewhere in 10th century Europe. The instrument family is also known as Organistrum, which consisted similar instruments like the Vielle à Roue, but it also had instruments which were played by two people. First appearances of the instruments are from 10th century christian iconography. Here are couple of links for viewing the history. -www.thevintagenews.com/2017/07/22/the-hurdy-gurdy-an-instrument-that-dates-back-to-medieval-times-was-a-favorite-of-french-kings/ -www.organistrum.com/organistrum_uk.htm

@@sanakassara thankyou for the information. I will certainly read the material you linked and do more research. Funny how in this case my claim was wrong. I got so accostumed to Catholic culture being an amalgam from other cultures since it's creation that I tended to assume that position you see in my previous comment. However, this can just fall under those few things that are genuinely born in Catholic culture. Nonetheless, thankyou again.

this is one of or maybe my favorite piece that you play, the addition of the electric guitar in the background is amazing, as well that little almost like scratch on the wheel sound fits perfectly to give it more rythm. i love it.
