Hurling Training Drills

the striking off the wall drill needs modification. the player should be standing with their shoulder facing the wall to strike then turn to catch and turn back to shoulder facing the wall again also if you are striking off your left your right foot should be slightly ahead of your right and vice versa when striking off the right this is the only way to develop power accuracy and agility moving the feet is as important as striking

with the soloing i have tips for beginners tip 1: try to balance the ball on the Hurley first before the actual soloing tip 2: after you practices the art of balancing the ball on the Hurley try walk with the ball on the Hurley tip 3: once you've mastered that you can now try running with the ball on the Hurley thats how i learned how to solo

Just a quick question, I have a big blitz coming up and I was thinking I could use my Gaelic football gloves as hurling gloves but is it worth the money buying hurling gloves?

+4cutekids I think it's worth investing in them. Hurling gloves (i.e. ash guards) don't have the palm covered, while Gaelic football gloves do. Ash guards have extra padding on the outside to protect your knuckles and back of the hand from the possible impact of a hurl, especially when catching the ball in the air. A Gaelic football glove may affect your grip on catching and passing the sliotar.

Can you do a video showing proper posture and positioning hitting the sliotar on the run? Seems like an easy task but gives me the hardest time, especially on my weak side. Thanks, will be using these drills when playing around by myself!

Buy a traditional wooden Hurley you can decide what brand by doing research yourself. You shouldn’t expect hurling to be anything like lacrosse. It allows more contact and even though it’s illegal some people try to pull the hurl( at your hand when catching the sliotar and at your feet during a ruck.

Hi I'm from Donegal I use a canning at the moment is a cultec good because my friends use it and i have played hurling for years.

+Daithi Kavanagh I like to use Cultec because ash hurls dry out in my apartment and then eventually break. Cultec hurls have the same feel to them as ash hurls, but it depends on your preference. You should try one out to see which you prefer.
