So cool that you enjoyed this one, wasn't quite sure what you would think but so glad you enjoyed it!!! This is such a super talented group of ever changing musicians, literally everyone from Bungle is there, apart from Mike, that is Trevor Dunn with the blond hair on bass and Danny Heifetz on drums, love these guys so much, thank you 💗

Secret Chiefs 3 are one of my favorite bands ever. I've seen them live a bunch of times and they are incredible. I hope they tour again soon. Last time they were on tour with Dead Cross

You should listen to SC3 rendition of the Halloween theme. The live version is mental. It's called Personnae: Halloween.

This song reminds me of the time I did way too much acid, I was at a friend's backyard in the 100 degree CA weather around a stone fire pit and my body melded with the ambient temperature of the environment. It felt very nice

Psychedelic is a weak word for Secret Chiefs Trio. :)) Still - pretty true one. :) Yes, their leader is really a guitarist of Mr. Bungle Trey Spruance. However, if you watched the video carefully, you may have noticed other members of Mr. B. :) There are practically everyone there - except Patton ! :D Since this is an old song, from their first album, released soon after Mr. B.`s Disco Volante, the original team actually consisted of all members of Mr.B. but Patton (including the saxophonist who plays a flute here - yes, that guy which outfit you liked so much :D), but with the true core of drummer, bassist and guitarist - hence the "Trio" in the name of the band. ;)) Later, other members of Mr. B. gave up, and the guitarist was left alone to tell a story that he liked very much in private ... And this story is really complex. :) Remember when we talked about DEP and math-core ? Trey is trying to do a similar thing, but somehow with a strange spiritual or, as you say, psychedelic background. He has read many philosophical books, ancient and modern, where he found the old Pythagorean concept of music (which deals with mathematics and abstract cosmology and everything...!) and he tries to apply it in practice mainly instrumentally...Patton understood that and let `the kids play`...Born as a funny, offside experiment, SC3 eventually grew into a serious and delicate band. :) Trey continued to explore his imagination on that field with various fellows-musicians, yet one thing remained constant in this music from the very beginning. Surely you've noticed the kind of musical scale that eventually led you to label this as psychedelic at all? OK, here`s a great discovery: its basically - Oriental Music ! :D :D Arabian Scale! :D Trey reads Islamic books too and finds inspiration for all that in music and thoughts of Middle and Far East....! Hopefully, some of it you`ll be able to hear right in Mr.Bungle`s song "Desert Search for Techno Allah" from Disco Volante album (where it all started). :) And, as I like to think, the name of the band "Secret Chiefs Trio" associates with the conspiracy theories, you know - secret governments in the shadows, a few good/bad people who rule the world. :))) If you look at it that way, Trey and his guys secretly steal ancient (musical) knowledge from the East like some well-infiltrated and masked Western Spies and share it with all of us... :))) It's a joke with that, a funny part of their band`s name. :) :) In fact, I am very excited that you have opened this page of projects related to Mr.Bungle and that we will hopefully hear some other SC3 stuff to which you will react. :) They are `Bungles of the Bungle`, how else to say...! :D And this song was a good way to start. ;) Much obliged, my man and cheers ! :))

You should also check out the original version by Ananda Shankar. It is actually not too far from this rendition. Both very cool though.

I think there were 4 members of Bungle playing that day. Not anymore though. Great band! Trey is a genius!

Cool reaction, definitely one of their more listenable tracks though!
