Hurma mahallesi Street Market / Hurma mahallesi Pazar / البزار في منطقة هورما
On 4/2/2023, We made this video walking along one of Konyaaltı's newer pazar which takes place every Saturday around the mosque in Hurma mahallesi at Antalya.
Hurma mahallesi is one of Antalya's diverse neighborhoods. You'll find locals and foreigners with different backgrounds in this area which makes it an interesting one. In Turkey, markets are a place of locals gathering together, purchasing fresh produce, sharing daily news and gossip.
Good to know: “Pazar” or “Pazarı” in Turkish usually refers to a weekly market.
The weekly “pazar,” which is what the Turks refer to as the local bazaars held outdoors and on the streets throughout cities, towns and villages in Turkey, has long been a steadfast tradition. Purchasing the freshest of seasonal and regional fruit and vegetables has always been of utmost importance to Turkish households whose cuisine is centered on the best quality and time of year for produce.
The bazaars here in Turkey can pretty much be your one-stop-shop for the week as there are typically separate sections devoted to selling fruit and vegetables, nuts and dried fruits, cheeses and olives, chickens and eggs, plants, kitchenware and sometimes even accessories, clothes and textiles. The prices for fruit and vegetables are determined by the “hal,” which is the wholesale supplier.
