Can I tell you all a little story. Three years ago my mom passed away. Unexpectedly. 11 months later my son passed away, kind of unexpectedly. It's been rough. But my boyfriend and his sons have helped me through it. August 21st was my mom's birthday and August 23rd was my son's birthday. During these three days We took a little family vacation to LA and drove around and saw the sites. It was so nice to be near the ocean. So on the 22nd my boyfriend and I were walking along Venice Beach by all the shops. And we ran into you Mike. I have been a fan of your channel for a few years now. Running into you and you taking the time to chat with us for a few minutes meant the world to me. I just wanted to share that with everyone.

We’re talking about 1 day of light to moderate rain at times. This tropical storm was waaaay overhyped by the media. And City of LA officials were happy to feed into it, so they can have a nice distraction from the real emergencies at hand- rampant homelessness and drug use. Our water here in So Cal is too cold to sustain a hurricane.
@myoldvhstapes Жыл бұрын
My gullible 76-year-old mother in New England had to email me to ask how I was coping with the 'earthquake' and 'tropical storm.' Well, here in downtown L.A. I did NOT feel an earthquake and there was rain for less than 24 hours. Sigh.... I've tried for years to tell her about the media, but she's too far gone. I think it's because hers was the very first generation raised on television since it was invented.

There is help available for these people throughout communities in the US but many of these people refuse help. Many (not all) seem to want the lifestyle of no personal responsibility & doing drugs. There are resources available but people have to want to be helped and want to improve their situation.

Or any hurricane...because it wasn't a hurricane. At all.

SoCal never does. It has to do not with the warmth of the water but the geology of the ocean along SoCal and Baja. Once it hits a certain point the water is not deep enough to maintain the hurricane status. It's a similar effect as to the reasoning as to why we don't have tsunamis here or huge waves like like our northwestern neighbors.

The LA River flows into the ocean at the end of the Long Beach Fwy, near the LA/LB harbors. Tons of garbage are caught by booms and removed by cranes with claw baskets. Other usually dry creeks flow into the ocean all along the coast.

It's still so sad to see so many lost souls unable to find addiction help and suitable housing. Great video as always!

they do not want help. they want everything the state gives without the responsibilities that are incumbent on a citizen.

Addiction help, assistance programs to get people independent are readily available. My daughter works a homeless shelter. You cannot force help onto people that do not want to be helped.

back in the day here in America, there wasn't so much panic buying because people knew they could count on other people for help, it was a community, everybody helped each other in times of crisis. These days, because of social media, polarizing politics, and over sensationalized news, everybody's suspicious of each other , nobody helps each other like they used to back in the day, it's every man for himself

We still do in many parts of the country. It mostly depends on which state you live in, and the type of "leaders" that have managed to be placed in control. That will tell you most of what you need to know!!!

i don't think it's social media. I think its financial tightening. It's was different when there was an abundance of jobs and you could afford rent making 10 bucks an hour. People could afford to give 'back in the day'.

As a landlord I will tell you government has foolishly made utilities in my area more expensive and taxes rise and that means I’m raising rent on my tenants more in one year than the past 16 combined. And there are landlords that when you adjust for inflation they have never made less. Renters don’t understand the government makes no money to give you, the property taxes that raise your rent is where so much of the “free” money comes from. nothing is free. Wait till people find out gas should be half as much if it wasn’t hidden taxed repeatedly.

I think the eye of the hurricane touched down on land in Tijuana. By that time it was a Category 1. Was talking to someone there and they said it was windy but not bad.
