When Beryl took the turn towards Texas I began praying for you and everyone in the path so glad you were away and the damage at your home was minimal compared to what it could have been being on the dirty side. Nature is beautiful and terrifying. Thanks for this short video because many people have been holding good thoughts and prayers for you. Take your time with the cleanup stay safe and healthy.

That is so thoughtful of you ... prayers make a difference! Thank you for including us in your prayers!😊 I so agree with you when you say nature is beautiful and terrifying. We have been cleaning up and are making progress. As we were cleaning up today I had butterflies flying around the gardens looking for nectar. Nature can be pretty resilient.

Glad to hear everyone is okay 💚 We had quite a bit of wind and rain here in NW Louisiana from Beryl. All my swamp milkweed and Tithonia had some damage. Like you said plants are very resilient 🌿 So cool to see all the caterpillars 🐛💚

It is remarkable how resilient the wildlife can be. One thing I noticed on Sunday before the storm hit was I could not find one bee or butterfly or bird in my garden. They knew.

That is so interesting! When I was speaking to my neighbor during the storm, she said a squirrel was on our window ledge, in a ball, and hanging onto the brick for dear life during the worst of the storm.

Cristal, as I was watching the weather channel.. I said oh no I hope Cristal’s beautiful yard survives. Southeast Ga here so I definitely understand hurricane season. I bet your the same when we understand it could have been so much worse. When it’s just yard debris we are so Thankful! I actually prayed for your home and beautiful yard. I know the hard work you and your husband put into it . Things will bounce back and be beautiful again. The price we pay for coastal living. Thank u for the update because you have been on my mind.

Thank you so much for thinking of us and your prayers ... they do make such a difference!🥰 With you being in southeast GA you understand what hurricanes can bring. I am very thankful that we have just tree and plant damage. Others in the area have roof damage, fences blown down, and some have trees on homes. I am also thankful to have electricity ... some still don't have it yet. As we were continuing to clean up today, I was so happy to see birds in the yard feeding, caterpillars doing their "thing" and butterflies flying around looking for nectar.😍🦋🐛

Thinking of you all the time, but I am glad that you’re doing well and your house didn’t suffer a lot of damage. And just like the caterpillars look to the bright side, I would be crying probably but a little shaping here and there will be the start of a new phase of your garden

That is so sweet of you! 😊🥰 We have been getting all the tree debris cleaned up and getting that to the curb for removal. I have been starting to work on the garden. I like your outlook - it will be a new phase of the garden! Most plants are resilient and should bounce back.

Oh, I’m so sorry about your beautiful garden! Glad you and your house are ok! It’s hard to be out of town and watch a hurricane hit on tv! We were out of town too! 😣 I love that your little Pipevine cats are like, “we’re all good down here!!” Take care, and I look forward to seeing how your beautiful yard bounces back!

When I watched your video of the linemen coming through your garden I just cringed ... I can only imagine what you were thinking!!! You and your neighbors need the power ... but parts of your garden got trampled. 😭 It was really hard to be out of town and see how much Beryl impacted the Houston area. When we left the hurricane was going into Mexico south of Brownsville. It just goes to show how unpredictable they are. Yes, we had lots of Pipevine and Eastern Black Swallowtail caterpillars. It is amazing how life finds a way and they survived the hurricane. 😊

@@ButterfliesNBirds Literally the first thing I saw when I got out of the car from Colorado was an EBS that had just emerged and was chilling on the fennel. I walked up and it flew away. Signs of life after the storm! Gave me hope and a smile!

Thank goodness life is so resilient! 👍😊 Like I mentioned, when we left the hurricane was projected to go ashore south of Brownsville and into Mexico. It sure caught us all by surprise because that is a heck of a turn! I sure hope you and your area are okay!

I am so sorry you got hit hard by Hurricane Beryl! 😢 I watched your clean up video and could see your large tree damage and how the wind damaged other things in your yard. (You have two cute dogs! 😊) We got power Thursday around noon - and I am so thankful for the electricity now. We are cleaning up and were able to get our large tree branches chain-sawed up and to the curb. We will have lots more to do, but it feels good to make progress. Blessings to you and your family.

Was thinking of you when I saw the storm was headed toward Houston. Glad to see your post today, knowing you are all right even though parts of your garden are damaged. Most of it will likely come back I think. I went on a Salvia hunt and got quite a few including Amistad and Wendy’s Wish, and others. One I got that has surprised me and I really like a lot is Rockin Playin the Blues from Proven Winners. It has Electric / Royal Bluish Calix that are thick and long above the foliage and my large butterflies and Ruby Throated Hummingbirds really like it. So if you need a replacement plant check it out if available. With some clean up and sun your garden will look better in no time I’m sure,

Thank you so much for your positive thoughts! 😊🥰 Every area of the country has weather events to contend with, whether it is tornados, hail, fires, floods, hurricanes, drought, blizzards, etc. None of us likes going through these things for sure. I was not born in Texas and I hate hurricanes. 🙁 Thank you for the suggestion of Rockin Playin the Blues Salvia. I really like the long Calyxes and lots of blooms!

So very true! 😊👍 We spent part of yesterday and until about 1:00 today cleaning up, chain-sawing downed tree branches, etc. This is the most work we have had from a hurricane in 37 years. I don't know why this one hit particularly hard, but it was unexpected and did more damage than expected. You hate to see your plants damaged, but we gardeners just continue on! 😊

Oh, it is such a bummer when you lose an established tree in a storm/hurricane! I'm sorry you lost several oaks during Ian. When we had to remove our silver maple in the backyard that also created more garden space in the sun!
