Hurricane Beryl forecast update: Could dangerous storm reach Jamaica, Mexico, or Texas?

Hurricane Beryl made landfall over the Windward Islands in the Caribbean on Monday. It continues to track west-northwest towards Jamaica, Mexico, and may ultimately turn north-northeast toward Texas. Here is the latest on Hurricane Beryl's path.

@@Mantis_Toboggan_TrashMan Nope. It's headed for Texas. Western Gulf waters are warm as hell thanks to Global Warming, and like the guy said, it will head north. We'd be lucky if it hits only as a Cat 1 or less. It has potential to intensify rapidly (Beryl went from TS to Cat 5 in 2 days, which is unimaginably fast) and crush where it lands. Parts of Texas is going to feels the hurt soon, and depending on where it hits, the whole country could see worsening inflation as gas prices go up, when refineries in the affected area shut down.

I’m curious what it will look like tomorrow now that it has reached cat 5. It’s supposed to start hitting wind sheer so that should lower it a little. We all know how unpredictable hurricanes can be at times. This one certainly was

Same. I'm worried it won't weaken enough. There's a paper about "annular hurricanes" describing symmetrical storms without rainbands, and a smaller wind field, that can persist through heavy wind shear. Hope Beryl isn't one of them

I was here 2 days ago when Noah couldn't believe that the prediction was only a CAT 1 instead of a CAT3. Turns out it hit as a CAT 4. Its now a CAT 5. I wouldn't be surprised if what he is saying now about it turning north towards Texas and Louisiana ends up correct as well. If that happens, it could strengthen again before hitting. Upwelling will definitely occur, but it’s geographically small, and the peak heat of summer is still to come, so any cooling it does will be undone quickly.
