The Waratah was not meant for the luxury like the Titanic was meant for it was more for people traveling to New York and to Australia for a new life, so mostly third class passengers but also some second class passengers as well so that not being fancy makes sense

No she had first class as well, it just wasn't as ornate as the Olympic Class, her first class was quite standard for the time.

As the SS Waratah was known to be both a cargo and passenger ship...one of the theories was that cargo shifted and resulted in a list and that it would've taken a small storm or wave to capsize the ship...it disappeared with everyone on board and the wreck still hasn't been found

The late author Clive Cussler wrote a short story about this. If memory serves, the book is "Sea Hunters II" The book tell about shipwrecks and the searches for them, many of the searches were conducted and funded by Mr Cussler himself. It's a fascinating read. That man's life was as colorful as his writing. I only knew him from his works.

SS Waratah was a passenger and cargo steamship built in 1908 for the Blue Anchor Line to operate between Europe and Australia. In July 1909, on only her second voyage, the ship, en route along the coast of the Colony of Natal from Durban to Cape Town, disappeared with 211 passengers and crew aboard

While the cause of sinking isn't really known since her wreck's never been found, it's probably. She was an "ugly duckling" of a ship and badly unstable. I believe at least one person swore never to sail on her again (and lived due to this)

There is a similar story with the ocean liner Abhona disappearing on her maiden voyage to India around the same time Waratah disappeared (1910 I believe it was for Abhona)
